    Thanks for all your responses.

Information obtained from various sources suggests they are from a Lancaster, so the feedback on here does support this assumption.

What I need to prove is that they could not have been part of a Handley Page Halifax, as these parts have been linked (possibly incorrectly) with the death of five airmen from a Halifax in 1945.

Any further help or suggestions would be very much appreciated.

    Regards

The following is a list that I have compiled from various sources:

    1. Air experience
    2. Effect of controls
    3. Taxying
    4. Straight and level flying
    5. Climbing, gliding and stalling
    6. Medium turns (with engines)
    7. Taking off (into wind)
    8. Power approach and landing
    9. Approach and landing
    10. Spinning
    11. First Solo
    12. Sideslipping
    13. Precautionary landings
    14. Low flying (with instructor only)
    15. Steep turns
    16. Climbing turns
    17. Forced landings
    18. Action in event of fire
    (a) Abandoning aircraft (by parachute)
    19. Instrument flying
    20. Cross wind take-off and landing
    21. Stopping and restarting the engine in flight
    22. Aerobatics
    23. Air Navigation
    24. Night Flying

It is worth noting that I have seen a number of differing lists where the exercises vary after No 22 (I think because there was no numbering system after No 22).

It would be interesting to see if others have the same list.

Thanks for the feedback; I did find a scribbled note about J7137, but I had not recorded the source (but I am guessing it was that photograph).

Thanks for the feedback; very much appreciated.

No 35 Squadron ORB records that SX937 crashed on landing after a Bullseye Exercise on 29th September 1949; in October, the ORB states that a replacement for SX937 had been delivered (ie the number is quoted on two occasions).

I am wondering if this should read “957” or “987”; as with all research, more digging is required

    Regards (and thanks again)

I am in the process of piecing together a history of 35 squadron and I have just stumbled across this thread; are you still looking for information as I have details on RH Wells’ sorties with the squadron.

    Regards
