Happy Birthday mate! see you soon.
My question to Darren is, who at Duxford Marketing do i have to beg/blackmail/sleep with, to pursuade then to do it?!!!!
Peter
I will find out what I can, but I know they want to as much as you want them too. It just a logistical question on timing for the completion of airspace.
I agree! Nice line up of AVRO aeroplanes. Could be a special interest day/weekend.
Get as many AVRO types together?
Before they get put n the big tomb! ๐ก
York and Lancaster is already so! Don’t know how long for. I will post some pictures later. ๐
Hi all just found this forum,I was at the Walney show and yes it was superb and it will be held again in 2007,I got some superb shots on the friday when they come and at the show.i guess this was you?
Malla 1962,
That is indeed Avro’s Finest in the back. Unfortunatly he will be unable to responed as he was banned from this forum because he spoke his mind. A little oversighted, considering he is VERY involved in vintage aviation!
Another friend of his graces this forum (moocher), so I am sure one of us will let him know about your post.
Spitfire ML407 “OU-V” was bought by Nick Grace at auction from the Strathallan collection
Not actually true Dave, as I’m afraid is the comment regarding the Firefly cockpits. The following comment is from ML407’s current owner who has asked me to set the record strait:
“A bit of creative licence by the perfect lady makers claimed this, but in reality Nick bought ML407 some time prior to the auction via an add in the paper. The Firefly cockpits and indeed the Firefly he brought was not brought at any auction either but privately with Sir William.”
Hyperphetical question:
If a large film company offered the cash to get her airborne, along with Just Jane and 474, do you think the IWM would say no?
Thanks Nick. I could not find the link earlier.
It’s for a HAC event at Biggin.
Pics taken a few days ago on Martin Claydon’s Duxford Update site show her with wingtips removed in preperation for the move, have they been re-attached or will they stay off till she’s tucked into Airspace?
Wing tips have been refitted.
Should be out over the weekend, but not long after that. This is not guaranteed however.
Great shots Darren,
And what a great day to be up in the PT22.
Septic.
Yes it was, and a wonderful aeroplane it is too. The visability was a bit hazey but it was nice and warm.
The aviation content
With the odd exception, the light was quite poor at Old Warden so I was struggling with slow shutter speeds and increase ISO. This did however give opportunity for some Photoshop fun.
Wonderful trainer formation, but light was rather poor

Three Avroโs in the same airspace!

Afternoon sun was great for some unusual staticโs.

And some flying shots

Come on England!

Life without lightโฆ.

…. if you count the so called flight line walk–where invariably you can look at aircraft surrounded by ‘press’–that in the real world are groups of people who haven’t written an article in their lives but enjoy a free pass.
Andy
To be fair to Duxford mate, the press office have cut back the number of press passes, so there should be less “wandering” around the aircraft. There may be other measures still to follow, which will aid the paying customer to get a clean view. They are aware of the problem, and are working on solutions. ๐
I know – but I am not biting ๐
You know you want too!
Great shots Darren.
It was indeed a cracking display. ๐
Nice to meet you and thanks for an excellent Flight line walk. ๐
Hope we weren’t too much for you!
Cheers
Paul
Youre welcome. It was one of the busiest shows we have had for flightline walks, so thanks to all who put their hands into thier pockets to help.
