Nice shots Mike. Good to see you too.
Thanks Bruce.
I will aim to get There for 10am. Can you PM me a contact number just in case I can not get in?
Thanks
Bruce,
I am hoping to get down to see TA634 out in the sun on Saturday (fingers crossed!). What time does the museum open, as I have not been before. I know you will be busy, but I will try and say hello.
Thanks very much for the heads up on this.
Anyone else going?
What a fantastic evening, THANKYOU!
Franck,
Superb images, and incredibly sharp! Thanks for posting them.
Won’t be able to check until tonight Will, but if I have anything, i will post it on the forum.
Great shots, the warbirds look superb in the sun (something, we don’t see a lot of!). The SeaFury, P-40 and Avenger are all lovely examples.
The T8s are being transfered to the Fixed Wing Standards Squadron, so we may not have seen the last of them!
A few Sea Harrier shots to say good-bye!
Fluffy,
I am assuming that you were one of the two guys who showed us around in that case?
I have only posted the pictures of the 109 guys, but yes, there were other members there who had flown a variety of types. I will bring the rest of my pictures, and the signed prints on Wednesday.
Ahh, I think RobAnt is offering to buy the burgers at EK before we go to Conningsby! 😉
Apparently the full name for Gunther is Gunther Domaschke, formerly JG 2 (thanks to Chris from the 12 o’clock high forum). Any one else know any more?
DaveM2
Thanks, I will give that forum a go (looks very simular to the flypast forum layout??)

I was fortunate to attend the event, several years running. I only really have recolections of the 1989 dinner, as we had a number of RAF Veterans at the dinner. Again, I can not remember who, but I have a signed menu, and indeed a picture of us all (which I will try and post here as soon as I get 5 mins).
The connection between 6AEF and the Berlin Jagerkreis, was that the CO of 6AEF at the time (Sqn Ldr Mike Neil MBE), was previously at Gatow flying the Chipmunks over the western part of the then divided city, and the relationship was from his time there in Berlin. When he took the CO’s position at 6AEF, he started the UK visits and dinning in nights. We also took them to play traditional English skittles in a local pub, with lots of beer being consummed! Bearing in mind I was only 19 at the time, I didn’t really take on board the significance of these guys, and I am sure that some of them are no longer with us. They were a great bunch, and it was a pleasure to have met them. They used to have some very interesting stories, especially when they were chatting to the RAF veterans.
Anyone received thier invite yet?
Here is XZ283 departing RAF Abingdon to Finningley, which turned out to be the very last AEW flight. The other images show the six airframes at RAF Abingdon prior to scraping. I will post some more pictures tommorow night when I have a bit more time.
I have some pictures of the last take off made by the AEW3 from RAF Abingdon. I will try and find them, and I also have a few of the other airframes before they were scrapped.
