Or even Tower Bridge and HMS Belfast. (Taken out the back of a Chinook, hence the individual sat on the tail ramp!)
The houses of Parliment on a typical British weather day!
I totaly support the view that in the air is better than not at all.
I think that Red Bull deserve a lot of credit for picking the Sea Vixen to sponsor. They could have picked a hunter or another more numerous type.
I for one, would love to see the Red Bull B-25 at Legends! (I am sure I will get shot at for saying that!) Has anyone got any pictures?
“Could I ask you U.K.gents for some more pics of the TFC Sea Fury, nice to see it progressing.”
Here’s one of her last month.
I will be there, and much like Dave B will be showing my face for the first time at a forum gathering. Which pub did you have in mind for the after show beer?
As of today, it has remained rain free for several days here, and is forecast to stay dry through the weekend. The forecast is for grey skies however, sunday is supposed to be good. This may mean that Saturday evening is looking good!
Are there plans for a meet up at Old Warden this Saturday. I know that Steve is ending his UK tour there, so I may try and come along to meet up with a few of you.
Can someone let me know the plan?
Yep thats her – her elevator is ready to put on – we just havent fitted it yet – it one piece and abut 8 ft long!
She’s coming on well….engines running six months – once we’ve worked our way thru the 14ft long wiring diagram 🙂
Is your Beech the one that was at Brunty late last year? (See pictures), If so, very nice paint job and nose art!
Thanks Phil,
What are the plans for her? When I was at Abingdon in the late 80’s I managed to get myself pictured in her. My first and only sit in a Spitfire! At the same time we had MK356 in for the pre restoration inspection work.
Phil,
Which is the Spit in the background with the teardrop canopy? is it TE311?
It was displayed at RIAT last year.
Hi Darren,
My understanding is that the red SeaFury was bought by Kermit Weeks and that it is in storage here in the UK awaiting restoration to airworthiness.
Nice pics,btw. 😎
Thanks for the info Ant, and glad you liked the pictures. I do like threads with old pictures like yours, it shows just how many aircraft have come and gone, changed colours and owners etc.
[QUOTE=SteveYoung]And some others which are unlikely to be seen, at least for a while:
RNHF’s Sea Fury VX930
Steve,
“VX930” is this correct?
The RNHF operated TF956 and now (when airworthy again) VR930
Looks like it could be VX653, the TFC airframe undergoing restoration.
It is nice to see some unusual and non airworthy airframes on the flightline walk. The German red Seafury along side the TFC and OFMC examples is great to see.
With all the moves at Duxford this year, imagine the legends line up options… Lancaster, Mossie..??
What ever happened to the German Sea Fury. I know it was sold, but where is it now. Also, did WJ288 go to Yeovilton?
We also used to have two seater VZ345, in the UK at Boscombe Down. Where did this go?
Meteor WF791 was put back onto the airshow circuit, but unfortunatly crashed at coventry air show killing Flt Lt Stacey. As stated in the above postings, the aircraft went into a “phantom dive” due to lowering the undercarrage with airbrakes deployed in a turn. This was apparently a common problem with the Meteor. I am afraid that I was unfortunate in that I was at the show, and saw the accident. I believe that at that time the RAF had a vampire under restoration to revive the vintage pair. Maybee someone else knows if this was true?
Very nice, well done webmaster! 🙂
Not a Photoshop job. Here is another view to prove it!
Why has it been kept such a secret?
