If it was as difficult to eject from the meat box as has been suggested, perhaps MB have failed to notice these difficulties….afterall their test aircraft is still a twin seater Meatbox….;)

And they are not very secretive about it…..

MB do have a Meteor T7 but the rear cokpit is open to allow unhindered seat ejection.

I thought this thread was about an aeroplane in France!

IMHO we should pull out of the Eu and tell them where to stick all of their useless rules. Worst thing that ever happened to this country joining that bloody organisation!!

What bloody organisation-they don’t know what the word means.:diablo:I couldn’ agree more

If I were pink ladies operators I’d take her to a country where her flying would be welcome & fly her as low as possible over the EU HQ just to give em the Agincort salute as they flew below the top floor windows as a parting gesture.:diablo: :diablo: 😀

Thank you to everoyone who has signed the petition.

Please do not argue over it though. The last thing I want is to cause ill feeling with aviation enthusiasts.

    Regards
    Andrew Russell:

I dont think you have caused ill feeling,if anything I think you have given the majority a platform to do somthing positive & show those few veterans still alive they aren’t forgotten.:)

when i last visited cosford, i noticed this

    http://i213.photobucket.com/albums/cc294/nashio966/DSC00606.jpg

on the side of the SB5, its an interesting aircraft, but out of all the other extraordinary machines at cosford, that is the only one with this particular message on it. surely there are many others deserving of this??? why were they not “deemed to be historically significant”

Just a pity that had been written on a considerable number of now extinct types.

As he was a passenger, are you quite sure that it wasn’t a T7?

It would likely be a T7 or one of the early NF versions,I believe that other than the MB Meteors, the NF 14 was the only two seat type to have bang seats……but I could be wrong, maybe the technical minded among you could correct or confirm that one.:) 🙂

The best add-on in my opinion was the turbo-jet installation added to the Shackletons. You could hardly see they were there.

By the way did they power these with petrol, or fit different tanks etc?

    Bri 🙂

Having read the He111 Zwilling thread,I believe the additional engine, fuselage & wing make a very good contender.:D

Consideration is being given to loaning out our T-33 for display for a period of four years while work concentrates on projects ahead of it in the queue. The only stipulations are that it must remain in the country, be placed under cover and be made available for regular inspection.

If any museums are interested please contact me in the first istance.

    Thanks,

    George

Can you P.M.with details & I will ask Aeroventure’s committee if they may be interested.:)

Just received an e-mail telling me that the Science Museum “Inspired” bid to upgrade Wroughton has been dumped from the list of finalists by The Big Lottery and ITV, even before we are allowed to vote on it! 😡

So what are the four finalists that are instead going to be offered to the great ITV voting public?

    1. A scheme to beautify the The Black Country. Can’t argue with the concept I guess, but you can hardly call planting trees on former factory sites exactly innovative!

    2. “Sustrans” cycleways. Do we reall need more bijou bridges and painted pavements to appease a lycra-clad vocal minority?

    3. A scheme to plant more trees in Sherwood Forest. Err, isn’t that the point of a forest??

    4. And a new attraction at the Eden Project. So we can all burn a hole in the ozone layer driving to an obscure corner of Britain to visit it.

    What a waste! 🙁

If saw what they had planned for the Sherwood project you would echo
“what a waste” for time immemorial-I know this may not be the place to discuss the project, but when you realise it involves a stainless steel “”tree”” & probable closure of a road which meant the locals would have a 3 mile detour to get to the nearest town, going via one of the most congested roundabouts in the area, you’d understand it is hated by everyone except those pushing for it.:(

It seems to me the lottery may be in league with the campaign against aviation:diablo: :diablo: 😀

    Radpoe,

    Sorry, just don’t agree.

If you had asked 100 people on the streets in 1947 you would still have got a very small percentage who would have had a clue what you were talking about, same goes for 1957, 1967, 1977, 1987 and 1997. Why on earth should 2007 be any different.

You can’t celebrate or commemorate every significant event in wartime, there are far too many of them. Life goes on.

It has only ever been of any real interest to those involved and enthusiasts.

The fact remains that 15th September remains the OFFICIAL Battle of Britain Day, BoB balls are held in messes on military establishments.

It’s the same as it has always been.

If you feel the need to make a fuss then that’s up to you. Just don’t try and force other people to do the same.

    Move on.

Ok I am not getting into a slanging match on this, but just remember it was the actions of those few men that inevetibly lead to the freedom of speech which we all enjoy in this country & that is one reason such a fuss is made.

Important dates still have significence,4th july still celebrated(231 years on),11th November(81 years).

You fail to acknowledge in 2007 our servicemen are putting their lives on the line in Afganistan & Iraq to help stop people being oppressed and grant them the freedom we take for granted-somthing the “few” aimed for in 1940,so yes 2007 is a perfect opportunity to help a nation remember.

I am forceing nobody to do anything,I am just making them aware the petition is there & make their own judgement.

As for moving on,I am very much in the camp of learning from mistakes of the past,by forgetting & ignoring historic events we put ourselves in danger of repeating them, thus denying ourselves the opportunity to move on.

So lets agree to disagree on this one shall we & leave it at that.

What is the point of this petition? What exactly are you asking for?

Just how do you “re-recognise” something?

When was Battle of Britain day somehow “de-recognised”?

Battle of Britain Day still exists, it was 67 years ago, what more do you want?

Ok the date still exists, but ask 100 people on the streets of Britain why is 15 Sept significent & it is likely only a very small % will say its Battle Of Britain day-you would be extremely lucky to find anyone under the age of 35 who does.

What is wanted is a day where we can all, not only just remember the “Few”, but we as a nation know what it is all about.

Internationally the 11th November is recognised,so why shouldn’t 15th Sept-it is the recognised date where the tide was turned against a dictator who sought world domination & was held back by a group of pilots from many different nations-some of whom were from neutral countries, others who had escaped from invaded countries, fighting from the shores of a nation who stood alone, was outnumbered aircraft wise & was expected to capitulate to his terms.
