There was a camp near Cambridge; you can still see the remnants of it by the A14 at Milton, where the travellers site is now.

I knew a chap who was imprisoned there, Gunter “John” Schwartz. It was also a distribution centre for supplies to the American forces. Life was quite easy for the prisoners, they just used to load up food and stuff from trains onto trucks for delivery. John told me they could pinch chocolate, as long as they took the whole box. Damaged cartons would be noticed.

John stayed in the UK after the war, and eventually became the avionics manager for Aviation Traders. A great guy.

High speed rail’s all well and good, and I have used Eurostar to get to Paris a couple of times. Can’t fault it.

However, I am going to Provence later this year on holiday. Two return Eurostar/HGV tickets? £538 if you don’t mind, and that was one of the cheaper options. Until we get a better pricing structure, people are going to want to fly.

It would be nice if it looked something like this…

And as if by magic, the 4X-ECF has just passed overhead on its way into Luton 😎

No, my point was that the image as only possible through this guy’s employment with us. He took a picture of the flight deck whilst he was working, without seeking permission to do so, and then posted it online with his copyright. My argument would be that it should be the airline’s intellectual property as it was not a publicly available image.

There used also to be someone at Edinburgh who would go onboard our aircraft during turnrounds and get pictures of the flight decks. He would then post them on A.net. All of this in the post 9/11 era.

OK, I’m going to throw one in here…I have seen pictures on A.Net which were taken during flight of the flightdeck of one of our aircraft (when I used to work for an airline) The ‘owner’ would have been somebody working for us.

How could he claim copyright when he had not had permission to take the photo?

So in this case, could it not be argued that permission was not sought from the airline for their aircraft to be photographed and the image put in the public domain? They might not have liked that.

    Just a thought.

At the tail end of last year the daily LY213 was sometimes being flown by a 737. Bit of a rarity around these parts.

It was rather gruesome, wasn’t it? I was visiting my daughter just close to Isleworth and they were popping out of the cloud at a few hundred feet.

Definitely a Euroatlantic 757, plus some other schemes that weren’t instantly recogniseable. It’ll be interesting to download the movements later in the week to see exactly how many BA flights were running, as there are two
versions going around at the moment

    Not all bad news then;

“Un hangar va être construit pour le B17 et pour d’autre avion de la même époque et il sera maintenu en état de vol pour reprendre l’air dans le futur quand les conditions le permettront”

Whaddya mean you don’t speak French? :p

We have been assisting the finders of this relic with their research and our own thoughts are B-17. Did the B-25 have prop de-icing? On the prop found the de-icing pipes are quite well preserved. They have now taken a few bits apart and are discovering part numbers which should help.

That’s going to be a long journey in a 737, hope they don’t charge to use the lav 😀

Just heard from my French correspondent that she will arrive at LFA tomorrow for her final landing.

Shame, the nicest B-17 around IMHO.

They’ve got no choice. Carry out the AD or you cannot fly. I remember well going to Schiphol in 1979 and a bunch of DC-10’s were parked up waiting to be inspected for an emergency AD.

However, given that in this particular case there is a 12 to 30 days inspection window, it is urgent rather than critical.
