Where will the operate this aircraft to. Its quite large considering the population of Greenland, although I recall seeing pictures of SAS Boeing 767s in Greenland before.

[updated:LAST EDITED ON 11-08-02 AT 04:31 PM (GMT)]I like these alot, used to like the Dc-10 anyway. Think this will the last Tri-jet we will see for a while, there are still a few 727s and Tristars around, but all going fast. That looks a nice beach the KLM is landing over !

    RE: US Airways

I have flown US Airways twice now MAN-PHL-MSY. The first time was on a 767 to the US second on the A330, which was a much nicer aircraft. However I though the service very friendly and food good. I also liked PHL over CHI for transfering as I flew with AA once to get to MSY. I didn’t enjoy AA’s flight/service much either ! Haven’t tried Delta or Continental yet to get to New Orleans, tried to book BMI but their connections didn’t work too well at the time I last booked.

    RE: Trilander

Thanks very much for that info and the photos. I did see the one in the”Ambro” livery at SOU, plus one other which I can’t remember now. I didn’t realise that Aurigny did the “flying advert” thing, I do see something simular with Ryanair who do it with their 737-200s but not the 737-800s, which Im seeing more often now since they started LPL-Brussels South.

Imcidently Southampton has changed quite a lot since I was last there (about 16 years ago !, lots of EMB 145s of BA plus a Scot Airways Do 328 and a Dash 8 of BEA. Last time I was there I remember Air UK (always liked their liveries) Heralds or F27. In fact I flew into and out of SOU with Air UK on a service from Stansted, the fare was very cheap, I think the aircraft went on to the CI.

I have seen a Trilander up here in LPL sometimes, i believe it is owned by local carrier Keenair used for freight/charters however Im not sure they still have the machine anymore. This carrier has just applied to fly LPL-IOM so that should be interesting against BA, they also have lpl-lcy plans apparently.

I saw an Auringny aircraft at Amsterdam recently, Yellow is quite distictive as a livery, so you tend to look up. Was that comming in from JER/GCI ??

I hope to visit the new Athens airport next year, but I do remember the old one and it was pretty awful with people sleeping everywhere, waiting for early morning flight to the Islands.

[updated:LAST EDITED ON 08-08-02 AT 03:58 PM (GMT)]I think you need solid facts to actually say that Liverpool John Lennon has disproportionately more car crime than airports elsewhere. I daresay the airport management would know where they stand if such a survey has been conducted. Certainly the local papers do not report high amounts of car crime at the airport, and newspapers thrive on bad-news stories generally.

The covered walkway idea would be ok I guess if it ran parallel to the building line, but if they were built out onto the apron I think with aircraft turning etc it would not be desirable.

I have been bussed to aircraft before at LPL when they are parked at a remote stand, otherwise the walk has been acceptable, again not a cause of local complaint in the press.

Im not saying LPL is the best airport in Europe or indeed the Uk, but it is now good and certainly a long way from the worse, and this discussion has not covered that many anyway. I would still vote LHR Terminal 3

I thought they may have started a base at MAN, it was only hear-say, but didnt think it would have been BHX

I have only flown Malaysian on a short hop Singapore-Langkawi-Singapore on a 737-300 i think. They were fine, nice little airport in Langkawi. Are they to discontinue the Manchester service, I heard they might be ??

[updated:LAST EDITED ON 07-08-02 AT 11:30 PM (GMT)]No, I dont believe you are

1, Hire Cars, I really dont know as I live local enough to not need to hire at LPL, but where ever I do, I always pre-book. Have no idea where this old cabin can be

2, Queues, Travelled recently to CDG & AMS with EZY and to Dublin with FR ( Who check-in at the same end as Manx )all morning departures. On all occasions i was in the queue for no more than a few minutes anyway, so there was certainly no problem for people going to the Manx desk. Even if there were it must be better than previous as the there is massively more booking hall space than before.

3, Used the cafeteria when I was going to Amsterdam (2 tills in operation) prices as you expect at an most airports, I would not normally expect a bargain.

4, X ray machines, on the above mentioned trips I passed through without incidence, the area was not completely finished so whether more than two machines will be installed i don’t know.

5, A covered walkway, this could be useful, but if it was a static construction at ground level, this may well be obstructive.

6, I exited from a KLM uk service from Amsterdam via the front steps at MAN recently.

7, Business Lounge, The old terminal had one provide by Manx, now that BA have taken over that route we will have to see.

8, Bus Stops, although I have never used them, I think its nice that the buses pull-in at bays right outside the building. I happen to be picking up a friend tomorrow evening so will check out the stops and what they say

9, Bad Parking, I dare say some people may have had their cars broken into, I know there are cameras so that must help. I had a car stolen from Gatwick so I dont really understand what your point is.

10, Named after a traiter ??!! I don’t remember the Beatles, but I think the name as much marketing potential
