There has been a suggestion it could be one of three gliders WP266,WP271 or BGA2493 ??.
Is there any chance you could upload a photo of any of these parts showing the numbers?
The numbers where on the wing spars in one wing there is nothing at all on the fuselage
and we have now recovered the wings after repairs. The numbers where all stamped together with what appeared to be circular inspection stamps
but these where unreadable.
The Eton TX MK 1, as it was known in military service, was the EoN (Elliotts of Newbury)Type 7 Primary, their version of the D.F.S. 14 S.G. 38 primary glider. I have a list of construction numbers v BGA / RAFGSA / RNGSA identities. The construction number looks like this: EON/P/ xxx – if you can find this on the airframe, I can let you know what you have…,
Can you help we have an unknown Eton Primary th eonly numbers we can find are as follows. B7/W123 and PE/APS/ and either 059 or 259 its not very clear. Any help appreciated.
the rear fuselag eis in kit form at the moment and the fuselage Jig is ready to start putting it into position.
We have had unfortunate problems with our site for the workshops and display building that have now hopefully
been resolved this has resulte din a delay of some ten and half months. An update will be issued further on the project shortly.
The hard core foundation and trench work footings are down for the workshops building. Not not decent weather
for concrete to be laid down and the buidling erected at this momen tin time.
A friend managed to locate one last week via e-bay.
Anon.
if you come accross anymore appreciated
You could try Richard Cawsey at Cotswold G C, Aston Down as he is an expert on the individual histories of UK gliders.
if you or anyone has a contact for him that would be appreciated ARG@aircraftmail.com
cant see any simms couplings for Gipsy Queen 70 ?
Cheetah X 350 hp would be nice if we could find them but they can be empty shells as we dont need
runners of any sorts just the engines in situ for display on a project with props.
Also props would be nice.
Also a pair of Pratt and Whitney 985 wasp junior in same format would do.
Thanks.
What is the identity of your EON?
The identity is unknown we obtained the glider in 2015 from Norfolk and Suffolk aviation museum it was a surplus third machine that someone
had made a start on restoring. There are no construction plate son the machine but it has inspection stamps on the wing spars and ribs for 26th January 1948.
It is believed to have come from the roof of a car garage/workshop and prior to that it is understood to have been with a cadet unit but wh what and where we would love to find out.
The only thing we are hoping for is a BAPC number and we intend to paint it up to represent an early machine trialed by the RAF.Any help appreciated.
No we have no lift plates or ground equipment parts at all any help greatly appreciated.
its difficult what you have there is part of the drogue gun and not the launch rail.
Be carefull as it may have two dam big springs inside. This is also the bit that has
the explosive charge in it to fire the seat.
Sorry cant help more than that except to say it isnt Mk3b or Mk4 (Vampire)
the best way to move the wings is to lift them by the boom end using the lifting tool or
use the goblin engine lift frame with chains on and pick up on boom end and fwd wing attachment bracket#
then a couple of people can just steady the wing.
Final way is to remove small access panel above undercarriage bay and you can then access top knuckle
and leg attachment point and you can put a sling around it the wing then balances fairly well.
If you transport flat you are actually breaking the law.We make a frame like two T pee shapes linked together
so the wings stand on leading edge about 60degrees towards each other.
We transport them often on a 15 foot car trailer with wing root fairing overhanging the back
BUT remember all the weight will be at the back so you need a load of
drums full of water at front of trailer to balance weight out.
If not it will nod like a dog in your back window and steering could be a challenge (Officer !!!!)
If you try to move wings with slings around them you will knack the
dive brakes and ailerons as some comedian has done with a set of ours
so we have to change the control surfaces.
Better still use a wagon with a Hiab.
Hello All,
If anyone has any leads on the following Martinet parts I would certainly be very interested:
Fuel Selector
Hydraulic Hand PumpPhotos to assist.
Kind regards,
Tim
Dont know if it helps but the Malta Aviation Museum have a complete Martinet canopy assembly stuck at
back of hangar. Its been there for a good while I dont think there is anything else they may be willing to do swaps
for it and may be worth an ask.
