A Guppy still flying in Europe would help transport problems for a lot of museums its a shame they where decommissioned and I think broken up although there was I think last year still a CL 44 04 mini cargo guppy still in existence and flying. A bit like the old Carvairs at least one should have been preserved even if not in flying order but I am sure one could probably have paid for itself. Look what the Russians have done with their ex military transports back in the air and paying for themselves.
Nice pictures and very nice to see still in use when you think how old the basic aircraft it is built on is.

some of us have been flagged for advertising in the past or at least
sailing very close to the line on the rules I think perhaps we need again to have some clarification from a mod as to what constitutes blatant selling or commercial advertising as laid down in the forum rules so we dont see any falling out over perhaps new forumites making a utter B****er of things and getting barred for not reading the lengthy rules or misunderstanding them ??

Peregrine or KestrelV engine parts
Wanted for our project
RR Peregrine engine remains any condition
RR Kestrel Engine remains parts any condition
Also any engine bearers for above.
The Peregrine is basically a kestrel V on steroids and finding a peregrine is going to be very hard but the Kestrel V was used in a lot of aircraft including Miles aircraft and a lot of crash sites with kestrels have been excavated.
Any help greatly appreciated a lot of work is going into cad work on the engines but some areas are a total mystery at the moment.

Westlands at Yeovil hold a fair bit of stuff and also not generally known is that Westlands also hold Faireys stuff as they cleared faireys site and even transferred their wind tunnel.
We are slowly but surely within our group returning the Westland Whirlwind Fighter back into existence and the guys are working very hard at producing all new drawings and cad work as well as new production drawings so that an aircraft can be built.
We are also assisting Westlands archivists to sort out what they have where we can and we are also sending them copies of what we have obtained via other sources so that they have a complete set or as much as we have when finished and yes drawings are only available via Westlands with their approval that is part of our agreement. So sorry folks we wont be providing sets of drawings to build your own Whirlwind it wont be happening or not for a good while I would imagine

Hurricane G-CBOE is for sale with Platinum fighters. Priced at£1,295,000.
Yes and plus vat at 20% so you are looking at 1.5 million is that a good price or not I dont know some have been advertised for more some for less. I have seen this aircraft close up and personal having been down there to collect an engine last year and it looks a very nice and thorough job is being done on it.

yes of course i am sorry I should have been more specific I am looking for drawings of the wings on the early seafires with folding wings mk3 etc.As the wings are obviously a lot different to the standard Spitfire wing arrangement as they fold outboard of the undercarriage and retain the radiator/oil cooler assemblies on the fixed portion/centre section created to enable the wings to fold and the aircraft to still be moved around on its undercarriage. Also any associated photographs would be helpfull as drawings can be very 2 dimensional but photographs can really help to make sense of things sometimes.

crow bar
there is a modern one you can buy off the tool stall at the local market its very similar in size and appearance and with a little bit of modification and the black paint stripped off and left out in the rain for a few days you can it seems turn a £20 crow bay into four figures !!!!!!
Wow i will have to buy myself a few dozen and stick em on evilbay for half the price and still be quids in !!!!!:o:o:o:o
Hindenburg….
I do rather like the idea that whatever it is might be under a car park.
Given that recent car park excavations have proven somewhat fruitful and interesting you might yet be able to generate enthusiasm for digging there.
Don’t tell David Cundall. Every last car park space in Britain will be excavated otherwise.
Talking of car parks we have a Westland Whirlwind fighter alledged to be half under pub car park and half under pub bowling green not far from you.
Buried mosquito
there is supposed to be an airfield in the south of England where at the end of the airfield in a ditch they placed three Mossie airframes with wings off them in a deep depression and bulldozed a lot of earth over the top of them.
there are also two Mossies in crash sites in North Yorkshire supposed to be fairly complete I am surprised the peoples Mossie project or what ever it calls itself has not done an excavation I am sure it would give them a better base than what they are alledged to have.
There are a couple of deep mine shafts in West Yorkshire alledged to have had crated merlins, and lots of other aircraft related items dumped down them before the shafts where capped.
Also just off the east lancashire road there are some shafts alledged to have had B17 fuselage sections dumped down them from US storage depots closed at wars end.
Hi many thanks its not one of our projects its a friend we are helping out for their ground running aircraft.

Let’s just hope in future people don’t go looking for buried aircraft on disused Cumbrian airfields, might just be a lot of bull (and sheep and pigs….)
Or there was the story of the quarry near Carlisle ‘riddled’ with aircraft parts, and asbestoc IIRC
Dear boy are you thinking of the quarry at Aspatria ???. there where in fact six aircraft in there including two tiger moth frames and some ww2 stuff.
Not much of a rumour been there got stuff out went home happy thank you very much.
