The forecasts on line for Friday are horrendously crap and in fact one site is projecting 25mm of rain. But for Saturday they forecast a fairly decent day with an odd shower and Sunday projected to start ok but go naff the more the day progresses.

Fingers crossed and hoping the man upstairs is kind to us and we get half decent weather and all the crap goes around us.slight shower not to bad its the howling gale force wind and paint removing heavy rain we definately do not want thank you very much !!!.

Doesn’t weather forecasting have the same differing views as the “restoration/rebuilding/authenticity” of old aircraft?

    This forecast isn’t too bad…….

    fair weather

please can we have during this coming week no alcohol fueled singing,no out of tune catawalling,no rain dances etc.

Plenty of prayer mats out please for good weather .It does not need to be a scorcher just dry please.

the long term forecast says its not looking good but we want it to change so come one lets get all the aircraft lined up and blow the crap weather over to the French they are welcome to it :diablo::diablo::diablo:

Either that or have we got a giant marque available to cover the site for the weekend.:D:D:D

Hi, I’ve got one for sale if you want it. It was originally used for a Lightning cockpit section, but I needed to be able to move the cockpit round the garage more easily and this was a bit unwieldy, so I’ve made up a new cradle using four swivel caster wheels rated to 1000kg each and I can spin it in its own length. If you’re putting a Lightning on it, I’ve used the original box section rear support which was fabricated at Coltishall (not original to the bomb troilley, of course) but you can take any measurements you want and if you make up an identical cradle it will fit your Lightning. I don’t know what type the trolley is, but it’s perfect for a Lightning. I’ll try to upload a couple of photos for you, showing the trolley and what your Lightning will look like one day!

Please would you mind sending a pm of the details and what you want for it as we have a couple of cockpits sitting on pallets and hard to move around and it would be an ideal tool for us.

    Thanks

The Sea Venom can be moved as a wide load with wings folded, and booms removed.

The Vampire is dismantled and will go on a medium sized Hi-ab truck.

    Bruce

If we dont win either if someone here does and is stuck for moving let us know we have some very usefull trailers and tackle that could move either plus other transport options at without mentioning the M word unbeatable rates of exchange.that is for coming North of the Midlands.

Realistically I don’t see much chance of the Varsity being saved unless a museum like Elvington takes an interest. I hope initially the tender excludes scrap merchants otherwise the Varsity might well be the second one to die at Duxford in twenty years!

It depends how much aluminium and mixed metal is assessed to be in her and the current price. It may be that scrap value outweighs by large numbers the historic value to a collection.Or collector and there is also the risk of someone buying it to cut the nose off (sorry cockpit collectors no offence)and then selling the rest to get their money back plus a big wedge to spend on something else.

The surveys make very interesting reading on the various aircraft ,very interested to see what their view of very poor condition is compared with what most of us think is um not bad we can do a lot with that.I think they expect it to be pristine for ever without having to do out to it.

as for a comment earlier up the pile on the Shackleton.Just to restate what was said miles ago on another posting .The IWM tried to offer out the Shackleton until they where told in no uncertain terms IT IS NOT THEIRS to start with it is the longest serving growler on the books of the RAF.

How to make friends and influence people !!!!!!!!!

By the way possibly a post for another section but is it right that there is trouble at mill at MOSI and some of their aircraft may be on the way out ??.I have been told this now by three different people and one of them is right on the spot so to speak.(sorry MODS if you want to move this last bit to a new post)

Yes, it is open to individuals and museums, so if you are interested, then give them a call and organise an inspection.

Thanks as always Bruce offers/bids gone in we might get lucky with one of them. Not holding my breath.

Still looking for a Goblin engine Complete for a Vampire if anyone knows to one as Xd547 is missing its engine.

    Vampire and Venom

The Sea Venom would be ideal for an up and coming collection, but most small museums have one. Plus they do not have the money to move it. Wheres crash and smash when you need them?

would gladly give both the venom and vampire a home and we can move them but no one wants to speak to us as we are not a collection or museum.
Anybody reading this that matters give us a call if no one else can we can please do not chop .I moved the original 35 at Woodford in the 1970’s so definitely know how they come appart and ship and we currently have one.

probably fall on deaf ears and they will just get smashed as per a lot of other large collection policies if they cant have it smash so no one else can.but its worth a try I suppose.

Wonder if there’s 2 Bristol Hercules engines I can think of a plane that would benfit them.

I know of two still in transport pods complete in excellent condition .ex transal engines ex WGAF. I understand the man wants about £5k each for them.

There is a Kaguj flying in France too, and it has been for quite some time.

Middle of last year it was up for sale £16,000 no takers ,considering it has everything on it including dummy bombs etc very surprised.

A very much underrated warbird that will blow your socks off the first time you take one up,an evil little performer goes up and down quicker than an OTIS lift.

either 45-50 minutes range if you are in a hurry or sit and loiter in the rank for up to 3 1/2 hours and drop in and spoil someones day occasionally.

From the serial 146 on the side, it is G-BSXD.

    Permit valid until 24/6/2012.

Was seen at Sywell last Friday.

That is Simon Johnsons aircraft based at Linton on Ouse so hardly likely to be in Yugoslavia as he has definitely not sold it.The only others in the uk besides mine 30131 are G-RADA last heard of rotting in the back of a hangar at Biggin Hill and G-SOKO live and well at Fenland. So the Yugoslavian connection with the original posting seems a bit spurious ??. Unless it is just to comment on the type and origin the hangar in the background does not look like Sywell ?.
