Is there not a guy in Italy restoring a bird dog to the air who also has a spare airframe and a lot of bits.

I seem to recall David P mentioning him last year I assume you have tried him ?.

Also there is at least one company in the states who advertise parts for them.

Actually Mike, since you raised it, I find the attitude against the “Peoples Mosquito” and regular pottshotting against it by supporters of the “Whirlwind replica project” rather off-putting and disappointing

You are of course welcome to your opinion but might I point out I was not having a pot shot as you put it just pointing out that a comment had been made that the mossie project had an airframe and I was just clarifying what I understood to be the actual fact ??. If that is incorrect I stand corrected.

The Mossie group have an airframe?

With respect at the risk of going off theme and being accused of sour grapes what do you call an airframe ?. I understood it was a few brackets and some very badly burnt fittings and some small wooden items ?.

The Whirlwind project currently has available to it One RR Perigrine engine,a main gear assembly,a small section of centre section with radiator intake and some odds and ends.We already have 95 % of the interior of the cockpit ready except for the main panel, control column, pilots seat and windscreen and rudder pedals we aint much short. We have two prop hubs hopefully coming from Oz (Wirrawarry ?cant spell.uses basicaly the Caribou uses a similar one).

The Lysander and a couple of other aircraft use common parts.

The best person to clarify the numbers on Merlin’s is to speak to Ian at RR Heritage .They have a full listing of every Merlin built and what it was first fitted to he should be able to tell you what is what as they are extremely helpfull.

Thank you for the words for and against yes it is a great responsibility undertaking such a project and involves an awfull lot of research and input .Unlike others we do not object to constructive suggestions or critisism we are totally open to questions so long as it aint the same one millions of times over.

I to would like to see the Mosquito project come to fruition but to be honest I think its even more of a challenge than ours is.

Its Grey it came out of RAF Leeming spares recovery in last 24 hours so the likely hood of it coming from down south to a car breakers in North Yorkshire within 10 miles of Leeming where 27 of them are being broken:diablo::diablo::diablo: is highly unlikely.
