Don’t worry guys we are getting the Preserved reserve on standby if needed.

Most of them are supported and maintained by ex RAF , Army air corp and fleet air arm personnel so no problem. We might just need them.

Don’t forget the US may not wish to get involved especially when Oil reserves etc are involved and they may have interest on both sides.Half the oil platforms and companies drilling off the Falklands are actually US owned and they wont want them getting scratched will they ??

Even though we have helped them out of the pooh in Irag and Afghanistan and given them 2 dozen harriers that we could well do with keeping ourselves. The US Military and congress will have very little will to help us in another conflict as they are in financial restraint mode !!!!!

With the backdrop it could almost be Elvington.

Congratulation guys on your achievement hopefully we will have a live Mossie here in the Uk by mid 2012 sadly not airworthy but otherwise fully functional.

    Again well done guys.

That’s OK, this won’t happen again this time.

No need for Phantoms, we’ll just send the Harriers down on our carriers to sort them out…..

Hang on a minute did’nt we operate the harriers off container ships last time (until they got sunk !!).

What about all the jaguars we have in storage ?.

I have just had another thought boys we have a few Buccaneers in fast taxi mode they could do the job !!!!.

I think the countries with Argentina are Uruguay and I forget the other so we will have to watch the Fray Bentos they will be smuggling in commandos in the shipment to us !!!. (or should it be called “Bully Beef “””)

We have got a few of their Pukaras so we could infiltrate behind their lines and I think they have a few of our old ships already so perhaps we are already behind their lines ???.

This is getting better reports now of Mosquito’s going into production in the colonies to help out.A B17 a couple of Lancaster’s what is there in the other colonies available chaps ??

Anything in India ?,Canada ?, Australia ?,New Zealand ?, South Africa ? (not sure about the last one ).

How about those other foreign johnnies across the pond we have helped them out with all the fuzzy wuzzies recently and two dozen Harriers and we have had so far is Montezuma’s revenge and the Baghdad trot !!!! . Don’t they have some colonies in South America we could use for refueling our squadrons of Spitfires and Mosquitoes etc ???.

What about the Confederate air force do they not have a wing available to come to our Preserve Reserve ??? :diablo::diablo::diablo::diablo:

Everyone keeps saying its tosh things like this never happen.

It just goes to show how the political mind works when the Falklands got

invaded last time a certain very senior Female politician said ” Of Course we will

send down our carriers with their Phantoms to sort them out “

The Response “We got rid of them 5 years ago Prime Minister !!!!”

Nearly as out of date as a lot of our military kit !!!!!!!.

Who ever thought of putting snatch landrovers into Iraq and Afghanistan

wants major temporal lobe surgery !!!!.

Sorry aplogise gone off thread !!!!

All of the good kit that seems to become museum pieces the way things are

cutting back one day we may need to use it again.

If I recall lightnings only became obsolete and out of servcie because they

caused our allies and others to wet themselves when a couple of them came

over stuck on their tales opened the tap and went vertical and levelled out

at 25 thousand feet a few seconds later. Those where the days !!!!!!.

Keep our historic stuff live and flyable one day we might just need some of it ;););)

Please excuse the damp squid comment and questions to follow.

The Geese operated out in the Caribbean etc have I understand had a bit of a

chequered history. There was a very detailed documentary in the Air Crash

Investigation series about the Geese being operated between the Islands by one

of the companies following a rather unpleasant accident .It seemed the

maintenance was shall we call it politely less that it should be and the main

problem seemed to resolve around unauthorized modifications and un

reported problems involving as I recall corrosion in and around the Fuel tank

bay in the wing root area. This was highlighted by leaks etc.It was mainly as

a result of poor maintenance and previous overhaul. I am not suggesting for

one minute your friend may have any such issues but I felt it being

highlighted might help.I don’t know if anyone else is familiar with the issues

that could be passed on and looked into for piece of mind.

With that aside it will be very good to see one flying on the show circuit we

are somewhat lacking war amphibian types except for a couple of catalinas.

What do we call our preserved reserve ?.

Looks good so far lads .

The aircraft are coming on line by the squadron.

The drone of Merlins will soon be heard from the CAM ships protecting the fleet.

We have moral boosting talks for the lads from Twin Otter,All the catering is

being taken care of by volunteer chefs (NO Corned beef Sandwiches allowed)

We still have the problem of transporting and launching some of our aircraft ???

I heard someone say Typhoons ?? By heck Biggles they have found some

typhoons they will be finding Tempests next !!!!!!.

Has anyone done the calculations for the Victor Fuel loads for the Vulcan

    yet?

Whats this VC something ?? Have we joined those Johnny foreigners over the

pond ????we don’t give out medals until after the battle !!!.

Some one mentioned Nato another load of those nasty foreign Johnnies.

Keep up the recruitment drive lads we will soon be the fourth largest air

force in the world the Uk is about number 11 or lower.

Trouble is What do we Call ourselves ????.

    Preservation Airforce ????

    The Preserved reserve ???

We must of course re activate Bentley Priory.

you have to have a bit of fun now and

again or you would crack up.Not that it would ever happen !!!!!.

    WOULD IT ???????:diablo::diablo::diablo::diablo::diablo:

Nothing can happen until June/July when the local authorities planning requirements for the area are released.

    http://ww5.7622dev.org.uk/services/business/regendevelopment/regeneration/tcandmajordev/woodfordbaesite

    http://www.woodfordcommunity.co.uk/news.htm

All very interesting reading it mentions protecting green belt etc.And also considerations such as affordable housing in the past it seems that affordable and profit don’t appear in the developers dictionary or at least not together.

in reply to: Strong rumours BAe Woodford site has been sold #1053728

The key fact is why change the company name to heritage ???smells somewhat to alleviate concerns over the historic side and the locals over what will really happen on the site perhaps ????.

Lets face it at the end of the day they will want to multiply the return on the investment by at least 25 plus.If it means using very loosely the wording Heritage and historic to get around redeveloping the site altogether and at the end of it you might get if you are very ,very lucky a small square of grass in the middle of what was once the airfield with a plaque some flowery words about the heritage and history of the site and that will probably be it .
Yes for a while to make it look good you may find a small centre squeezed into a corner of the development with some of the history displayed BUT for how long square footage is worth money to these guys.

A very good one to get through planning and around possible objections,Also if I am not mistaken if they use the posh words heritage, and historic etc, does that mean they get access to government and EU money as well to “Sympathetically ” develop the site !!!!!!.I wonder how much of a carrot has been waived and incentives promised to sell the site and get none enforceable promises about the sites future ???? Note the comment in the article about extending the current lease on the golf range and Heritage area
Just a minute I thought that they where Heritage ???

Call me cynical but hey where else have we seen this before ????? .They will be wanting to plant a wind farm down the runway between the houses next !!!!. Or is that planning application already being investigated.

I reckon the full unedited details of the sale and the planning would be very interesting reading but I don’t think we will ever get access to it fully.

I served my time there at Woodford and lived up the road very sad.

Come on lets have a fun sweep I reckon within the next 60 days the main production shop and hangars will be in the process of being leveled, the steel recycled and the hard core and rubble sold for motorway construction.

And within 90 days some revelations about the true plans will emerge !!!

Lets see who gets nearest .

It will probably get chopped up as there seems to be a general sweeping statement that we have to many Hunters anyway and why preserve another one.As was recently discussed when a complete machine was cut up to create a cockpit section and a bit of scrap I don’t think even the wings where saved.

Not that I subscribe to such a thing it deserves to be preserved but the IWM policy on their aircraft is going through a vague period or seems to be.
