Found this on youtube my apologies if it’s already been seen here, but does anybody wish to compile a list of the aircraft?………..Paul……….

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sJkkFYX_Udc&feature=related

I have a video of about 20 minutes of a Hurricane underwater. And if I can find it underwater footage of about 11 aircraft including Skyraider,Sea Fury,Wellington,Liberator, and many more all in the Med and all between 75 and 110 metres. But all protected and some waiting their turn to hopefully one day be raised. but no point unless the facilities and funds are there to deal with them.

I amongst others a little concerned over the flying pencil the RAFM are planning on raising .Is there the proper facilities for it are there the realistic funds to preserve it,are there the funds to raise it ??.Lots of questions and in these times it takes an awfull lot of thought as well as the above to be able to undertake.

    Not Vampire, that’s a 1009!

    Sad, me?

    Thanks Bruce

I thought Vampire was not right as it is clearly for a tail dragger tricycle undercart.

Any other offers Tempest and Typhoon sound good and confirms one of the suggestions I had been given. For its age it is immaculate like it just came from Ashley’s all in its original packaging it would be a shame to go on someones shelf hoping to find someone who can make the proper use of it.
Although I cant guarantee it I feel 99.99% it has to be serviceable as it has obviously never been near an aircraft.

A lot of people dont realise the Whirlwind was designed in 1936 and first flew in 1938 so technicaly it is pre war and the initial pre and production machines will most probably have used the earlier pre war style gauges. In fact The AP marks the differences very pointedly with the fact the changes all take place after a certain production machine and even some controls and gauges are changed to the opposite side of the cockpit.!!!
But as we are building a POST change machine the later and therefore more (one would hope)available gauges would be fitted ??

In the early 1990’s we resuced a number of Replicas from the Gun bus film and a couple of others from the far side at Coventry parked next to the Mitchell. We got them back to Manchester and started some restoration work from memory there where two Gunbus cockpits but only one set of wings and tail etc one had a dummy engine in it the other had nothing. There where also a couple of other aircraft including a BE2 and a German bi plane and lot sof other bits.
I deont think the ones we had did any taxying I think it was pulled along a big long railway track with the camera crew going alongside on another.I do wonder what happened to it all.

    PM’s clear

Got blitzed by a few people retract that last post the bottom end etc very like Whirlwind but top end does not quite look right as Whirly has casing enclosed at top half. But is it solid or is it a fairing we are trying to establish.

    Numbers would greatly help.
