I wonder how the sale affects the heritage center that is trying to be established on the perimeter of the airfield in the original AVRO hanger ?.

I know that there is a small dedicated team working very hard to save a corner of the site ?.

Just to re-emphasise the dates of 16th & 17th June 2012, as mentioned in here were set back just after the 2011 event finished! 🙂

Ta very muchly we have had just one or two other things on and missed the post.Definitely planning to be there with at least something of cold war era.

Might I ask a question re 2012 there is some sort of large silly sporting event taking place in the London area and it is screwing with all the events and air displays for 2012. Is there a fixed date for 2012 yet sowe can get our calendar planned ?.

[QUOTE=baloffski;1809534]Jon H should be along shortly to share some news, but as he has just managed to get himself engaged, it may be a wee while while the enormity of his good lady finally saying yes sinks in!

Silly Bu**** I thought he had more sense than that !!!! no more weekends moving aircraft with the lads now,no more scratching in holes looking for parts.

I don’t know another one bites the dust . Don’t give her your name Pike !!!!!

Harriers and Hunters are warbirds too in my book – or are we being snobby…..? :dev2:

What about our Kraguj ? they are war birds and have confirmed combat history
albeit not ww2 . Sorry ww2 is a very significant period in history but not the only war that aircraft have fought in.

With great respect there are a lot of events ww2 specific and you could run the risk of alienating none ww2 cockpit owners who would then want their own event, and it could all get very them and us !!!

Dont get me wrong we have ww2 cockpits and a major ww2 build underway but I think that a dedicated ww2 only theme could be an error in thinking.

From an extremely reliable source the aircraft was donated to the museum by AA the aircraft was in a bit of a shaky state and was getting near the end of her useful flying life that is one reason why she was not considered for a flight back across the pond. There is only one Growler that has any chance of flying again and that we all know is at Coventry .

There have been various rumors for some time about Kermit having an interest in the aircraft but if its anything like a lot of the other big birds he has bought and flown for a short period then hangar ed up it may be only a passing fad ??
Or just as usual speculation gone mad a man who likes big aeroplanes with a big bank balance.:diablo::diablo::diablo:

My personal thoughts is that it would be good o have a forsale section as most other forums seem to be able to accomodate this. However i understand Key publishings concerns, if they didn’t make money we wouldn’t have an excellent magazine or a free Internet forum such as This. However perhaps we could be met half way and have advertisements for the following:
    1) Free promotions for events, gatherings, air shows and museums. This could be in the interest of keeping historic aviation ‘alive and well’.
    2) A free wants page for somebody who is looking for that elusive item for their restoration projects or collection.

This then leaves the for sale section still intact for it to be included in the back of the magazine in order to generate some income or the company.

Correct me if I am wrong but don’t the moderators currently allow this to happen ??. Things like cockpit fest and aero jumbles get a free plug and the odd mention from people looking for that elusive item for their project. A lot of us must be guilt on the latter one and a good few on the forum chipping in with I have got one of those I will pm you ??.

Sorry personal view is at the moment it ain’t broke so why are we trying to fix it ??

Anyone found a Whirlwind fighter in a scrap yard need parts ?:D:D:D:D:D
