Can anyone help identify, exactly, two Spitfire Mk I drawing sheet numbers?
Both are in the fuselage (30027) group and are 33 and 79 respectively.
What were Sheets 33 or 79 drawings of? I only need to know what they were – I don’t need the actual drawings!
Hi Andy 30027 sht 33 is a GA of a Fin Rib and 30027 sht 79 is for a stiffener in the way of access to tail Parachute.
The latter is a very unusual and interesting little drawing. Have both is you ever need to have a look at them
hope it helps
Firebex , thanks for mentioning just how dedicated Tony Agar is.
As an aside did you meet Dave Pickles and his Jeep Land Rover recovery team in the days of Brian Rapiers high ground wreck salvaging ?
The name rings a bell but cant place where I know him or met him its a long time ago we did a lot of wandering around hillsides in the late 60’s,70’s etc.As well as crawling around scrap yards over and under vehicles bumping into bits of aircraft.:diablo::diablo::diablo:
Used to be one based at Barton during the early 1990@s cant remember the identity. It was a brute with blown canopy tail mods, big engine and nose,I think it also had wheel fairings. The guy who flew it entered all sort of aerobatic comps with it but I think he had too much oposition from things like Extra’s
This one?
Baz
Yep the very same !!!!!!
A society needs to be set up to either complete the Elvington example or build an airworthy example from scratch. Mind you, wasnt the RAFM example loaned to Norway for 20 years? That should be up next year – didnt they look into it going to BBMF?
I am please to say I know Tony Agar very well and the amount of work that has gone into putting about 7 airframe remains plus some into one aircraft is well documented. The fact it is not currently complete is that Tony has had some engine problems he did have some extensive work undertaken on them and they should have been ground running last year but some un resolvable problems and some other technical hitches have resulted in them having to have a lot of further work done to them. One engine is now ready to go in and the other is just waiting for a new pump drive shaft then it will also be going in I understand that Tony is still trying to source Oil Temp gauges with the long capilliary pipe on around 15 feet of it to be precise then it should be all systems go.
I do not wish to criticise but this is a man who has put his own time and own money into this project over the years .He is a normal individual and like most of us is not blessed with massive funds and a big bank account to support him whilst he also has to pay the bills at home.Any inference that the project
deserves more shows a lack of thought before engaging brain.
I actually used to work for Hawkers/BAE and was present when Keith got killed flying RR299 at Barton (not very pretty). On one final point all the remaining useable stock of parts held at Chester went in equal portions I understand to Tony and I think that You got a fair share as well didnt you Bruce ??.And someone else got help. So any parts in the Uk for a flyer from Chester no longer exist.
Sorry for the rant but I dont like to see genuine people with genuine projects coming in for Flak.
On an offchance, have you tried the National Firearms Centre at the Royal Armouries Museum in Leeds. This is the new name for the Royal Small Arms Factory Pattern Room Collection, which was formerly based in Enfield.
The 20mm cannon might fall within their purview.

Let me guess its one of many used for fence posts ?.Sorry its just a guess as its a very common use for them out around Macclesfield until about 25 years ago a number of farms still had them as fence posts and we swapped an awful lot for new posts and the farmer was more than happy !!!!.
i have a crash 20mm hispano that the project could measure
Hi Tony touble is which one is it as I understand rightly the one we want is somewhere between the one fitted to the Spit and the one in the nose of a Mossie ?.Its the bit on the very end that sets it apart fromt standard if I understand it correctly. Many thanks for the offer.

Looks great. The MiG 21 enquiry is for a third party, so i’m not buying, but that said I would love a chance to get hold of a whole MiG 15 or 17.
Has anyone seen one? Any condition….
Cheers
If you look back not to far we did have a discussion regarding the Top gear programme on an airfield .The airfield was full of Mig 15,Mig17,Mig 19 and the odd 21 I think but as has already been said the same place is hard to get to its hard to work with the locals.Half of whom seem to wear funny black coats with bulges smoke odd cigarretes and may take your money give you nothing and you could find yourself on a flight home .I think that Bruce knows what I mean we have had similar experiences in the ex eastern block. And beyond !!!
