I,m amazed Rolls Royce havent got documentation….

Its alright having documentation and drawings but if you have one you can scan in apparantly so they tell me it works better for CAD and to put it into a machine to foam cut a replica (if thats the right term )

Rolls Royce have a couple of crash damaged Peregrines that are on loan I believe to the Hysterical Branch and on display..

Yes we know about these two they belong to Steve Vizzard and are the remains of the two recovered from the Whirlwind crash site in scotland. Its just in case there is more out there to be found ?.

In view of the few crash sites excavated there must be the remains of more than the two engines we know about. There was a museum somewhere displaying another part Perigrinne but we dont know who and where.

If we could access to a Kestrel III intact we would be 90% there for a copy less the supercharger.

Steves two one is very badly damaged the other is maybe 75% there but the rear casing is apparantly smashed off.

Have you thought about spreading the construction across a number of groups/locations. I know Boeing has had major problems with the Dreamliner :dev2: but if you manage to draw up comprehensive plans perhaps there are some groups (In BAPC?) who would be prepared to build parts of the structure or just parts. Many hands make light work!

Thanks Robert we have made some preliminary approaches to some of the guys on the forum uner another posting.Yes willing to expand it but first we need to get a decent set of drawings for people to work from and hopefully before long our CAD guys will be able to give us some cleaned up and useable stuff.

So is there anyone out there who fancies knocking up the tail end or outer wings or whatever ?. The cockpit and centre section will be built in house but sub assemblies from other groups could be then built in using us as the assembly shop and others as the parts shup like they do with the big boys toys and they did during the war.

OR better still is there any group or individual who as a Donation or form of sponsorship to the project like to manufacture some assemblies ?

I presume I’d need a Class 1 HGV licence – If I could afford it in the first place.

    http://www.milweb.net/classifieds/large_image.php?ad=57085&cat=4

I live close enough to the Taskers factory site so that the Queen Mary trailer would have been coming home.

Not sure on that one there ha sbeen a lot of changes BUT at one time if the tractor unit was under a certain weight there was a loop hole on licensing. But I think it might have been changed as I know the Landrovers used by Racetech to move starting gates are HG1 with Tacho’s.

I can see the dreaded how heavy is your trailer thread raising its ugly head again so I wont say anymore.:diablo::diablo::diablo:

Looks very nice thats about £38,000 I think off the top of my head.Like the trailer is the Texan the one that was on evil bay about 18 months ago needed to be moved of an airfield pretty quick or was that a different one ?.

Definately an eye opener at Cockpit fest. Anyone want to buy the Harvard I could use the transporter and unit to move Spits !!!!!

For the sake of completion, tomorrow I’ll do a trawl of all pics and documents posted on this thread and copy them onto the ‘library’ section of project website UNLESS ANYONE HAS ANY OBJECTIONS to their re-use – please let me know if you do!

Would be great if you can Beermat can I ask a question is it accidental or deliberate that you are now ranked as No1 Looser !!!!!.Should that not be no 1 user ?? or have we upset the powers at be ?.:diablo::diablo::diablo:

    Hi
yes a good picture, not all that well publicised, apparently I was told that this was taken very soon before it was buried, the engines had been removed for the helicopter test rig.
What a basis for a static rebuild this would have been if it had survived.
    cheers
    jerry

well its still a bit debateable as to what did really happen to GOI perhaps one day we will finally get the true story. The area she was pictured on is now an extension to the hangar but it is NOT the area she was buried in !!!!!!.

Jerry have you got any more info on the one that was part uncovered during some excavations ?. I understand its is under a tarmac carpark !!!.Might be worth seeing if the owners would like their carpark relaying if we can get enough location info.Perhaps you could PM me or better still pick it up in the forum on our special web site!!.

    Thanks

Happy Birthday to NX611 I have some good and bad memories of working on her many, many years ago on a very cold Blackpool airport.

Its only dedication of the Team and the Panton brothers that has even to start with helped this lady survive the rather unfortunate abuse involving salt air and some poor choices of parking place in her past.(prior to her being rescued)

It is wonderfull they plan to rebuild her to fly.I must sit on the fence abit.If it can fly and the necessary is there in the will, the parts and the finance(not in any particular order) then great. If it does not meet the above then ground running taxiable is also very good this keeps the airframes live and working to the best they can and everyone gets the chance to visit and see it taxying etc.

Then there is the rare and economic crunch factor if its very rare ,a one off or a reproduction then you have to balance all sorts of things and a lot has to go into the pot is it viable,is there anything to be gained etc, etc, sadly some projects have been driven along by enthusiastic teams and enthusiasts to put an aircraft into the air and face a continual struggle to be able to maintain it.(yes before I get sniped at the Vulcan is one of the ones I am thinking of).And it leaves lots of arguments and question (did they do the right thing etc, etc)

a lot of the projects we have been fortunate to be involved with at the start the aims and goals for the aircraft are fully investiaged and we are only in the main involved with aircraft for static display(full rebuild, refurbish)some with a certain amount of systems installed and working ,and a couple of projects that are ground running taxiable but NOT capable of ever flying.

It’s going to be a great site – and so much nicer without the ads – although I’ll miss your wife, Mike ;). I’ve sent you as message on the site re passwords 🙂

I know she has had to put the ostrich feathers and high heels away now .It does not do much for my bllood pressure let alone anyone elses.

Thanks guys for joining in the web site over the next week we hope to develope it further with the help of Beermatt and MrBluesky so please keep dropping in.

Ah right, I knew there were extra categories for passing your test after , and I do get that if you are professional driver there are various restrictions etc.

I would think that people here are interested from the point of view of pulling cockpits around of say 750-3000kg and not for any hire or reward, so cutting to the chase that is fine as long as you’re not exceeding legal and vehicle weight limits?

Yes and you do not get ANY FORM of reward for doing so be it a simple as a certificate or a trophy as again you are under this daft interpretation of a REWARD and therefore it is no longer private BUT Commercial.

SO; Dont accepte any certificates or trophies, dont let your mate buy you a burger and a brew on the way down for giving him a lift and dont promise to collect Freds cockpit whilst you are down there as a favour so he will do the same for you some day. If you do and you get stopped at a checkpoint smile nicely and hope whoever stops you is in the mood to listen.

Or have I misunderstood it again ???:diablo::diablo::diablo:

Once I disabled the AV software I could access it, very strange.

Very odd Inkworm a silly question but you guys with the anti virus issue this does not happen to be either Norton or macafee does it ?.

Sorry they may be wonderfull for mr average but I have found if you store lots of drawings or photo’s from different media you get issues.I had Norton and it was doing daft things like reproducing itself everytime it started up and filling my memory.I went to mackafee and duly signed up for the upgrade £43 poorer and it never would work properly.

Some of these antivirus packages are very sensitive to cookies and some of the newer type web sites so I am reliably told this evening.
