Please Sir! please sir! I’m left handed, so may I swap the overalls and flask hands please?! 😀 And I’m not surprised at the price difference, being in the transport game myself. So roughly when are you looking? Just so’s I can work out if I can come do a bit

Not 100% but if it all works out within a couple of months.I know for cert it wont be end of May or early June as I am over in Malta so either before or just after.A lot to plan if it all works out and the finer details for its destination but all wil be revealed.

Blue 2 you have been to near Andre’ and the rest of the crew for far to long they must not have de scaled the kettle in the mess again for 6 months.

I dont care what hand you put your flask in and I think as its you you should have your overalls on permanently.I did hear an ugly rumour that you guys have to have them surgicaly removed once every year anyway !!!!!

Yes thanks guys dont worry there will be plenty of notice from the time we get the go ahead.

I have now had it confirmed by a couple of different sources including one at Westlands apparantly circa 1960 the aircraft remains got dug up and scrapped loacly. Also as a matter of interest the photo of G-AGOI taken out side the hanger is today part of a lager hanger and that area is under a roof !!!!

Apparantly one engine was used for some sort of test purposes and then scrapped the other went to a local ATC unit.Any info on who this might be would be helpfull. There is also apparntly somewhere a museum that has the rear end of a perigrine and supercharger assembly ??.

Still no nearer the location of the privately owned rear bit of Whirlwind fished out by a trawler said to be in Cornwall(its a big place)

On other fronts good progress being made with the influx of drawings, photo’s and info please guys anything you find in your photo albums etc related to Whirlwind Fighter we would be most interested.

Still trying to track down one of the elusive 1/32 scale models if anyone has one.Very usefull to mark off the areas we have.

Final ask for this post does anyone have contact with who ever has our dear friend Shed mans project stuff.I understand his cockpit is somewhere near Norwich if anyone can confirm but is the project stuff with it or does his family have it as we are sure some of the material he had would be invaluable to us building the aluminium one.Any contact leads can be sent PM to me and will not be publicised .

    Many Thanks TA.

And they canna talk lik ewhat we does !!!!!!!.

On a more serious note and back to thread guys things moving a foot and slowly as they tend to do .Just waiting for the final quotes for moving the beastie and by heck do they differ never say Yorkshire men are not generous compared to you lot below Stoke on Trent !!!!! the variation in cost is enourmous and in some case two and three times quotes from the south compared with North os England based companies it just goes to show you Southern lot must need golden flakes for breakfast or something and still need 6 figure sums for wages each week. You dont all work for an MP down there do you ????.No wonder the country is going to the dogs on the price difference we could put this beast and the one in Coventry and Manchester back into service and rent them out to the RAF .Heaven knows they may need them the way things are going.

Anyway once we have considered it all and have confirmation from her new home I will be back on to take up the kind offers from help and requesting you all form an orderly queue with your overalls in your right hands and your flask in your left and those that have them can bring their own screw drivers and nut removers !!!!!

    Dear CIG Argentinian Military

Give it twelve months there is so much confusion in th UK over what to keep and what to scrap that they will have got rid of everything and all the forces in the Malivinas will have been shipped back to Europe to support operations there and in the ever expanding troubles in all the other Arab nations.

Also with the cost of fuel in the UK the MOD will not be able to afford to fill the tank on a Landrover let alone a warship.

[QUOTE=Deryck;1710834]Hi Cees, No, not back yet, I think another month might see the snow melted!

I am surprised that Vince gave you a hard time with the Heritage crap. As I understand it he recently acquired the 8 or 9 surplus Bolys from CWH. They will just quietly rot away in his field. There are not a lot of customers for them. I still think we (NAFM) should grab at least a couple while they are available.

Might I ask is it because th eman is hard to deal with or is it the price he is asking for them and the problems with getting them ou tof Canada or a combination of all three ?. I know a few years back the museum in Malta managed to get a Swordfish project from Canada without to much hassle.

Very sensitive point I know but if we had not ring fenced such things as foreign aid to countries who’s leaders are amongst the wealthiest in the world. An dinstead of lending money to the banks HMG went and bought shares that are in some case worth less now than they were when they bought them so lik eothers HMG has to wait for bonus payouts on shares instead of getting the money back out of all the other money being used to pay bonus payments to bankers. So we seem to be in a decending spiral as far as spending on things we need like a sensible defence policy and spending. The MOD got severely slated last week for wasting money and not getting proper costings and budgets agreed for projects.Surely that should be a basic requirement ?,business has to do it or they can operate so how do the MOD mismanage so much ???
