You could just call it J-20 to keep it seeemples!

Must admit I thought it is Krag ‘oo, means Sparrowhawk in english according to Wiki, but Hawk or Griffin (perhaps derivation) from other sites.

They are quoted in loads of places as being also known as “Sparrowhawk” so sounds about right.

    Who invited the Meerkat !!!!!!!!

You just need to look through the applicable types for the engine and I am sure you will find an aircraft that is dying with that type of engine fitted – Beech Queenair readily springs to mind as one user.

Thanks David yes Queen air was mentioned as one possible donor but unfortunately up here in the wilds unlike the masses in the south we have few airfields and dying aeroplanes tend to get evicted or moved rapidly.Hence my request.

Anyone happen to spot a likely candidate leads appreciated, someone has kindly already suggested one aircraft breaker but perhaps the airfield or owner might be a more cost effective route. But I may be wrong.

Thanks for the ideas guys always welcome.

When the lady arrives and we have swept out the cobwebs I will post some photo’s hopefully will finaly then get to the bottom of its identity. We have some thoughts but nothing certain as yet.

Unfortunately this excellent reference only lists three of the four aircraft hopefully once we get the crap off the construction plate we will be able to confirm its identity.

Thanks as always one and all for the information.

Any experts on converting croat into English ???

Not havin a pop at them Firebex… as i said they do ‘look’ potent and efficient. If i was a flyer i would’nt mind one myself as i like the look!

Well she will be arriving soon then if you ar eup our way you will be most welcolme to come and sit in the cockpit !!!!.

Some people call them a mini skyraider, I would not go that far but they have a raised cockpit position with excellent view and you can see that they originate from an American design by the Fletcher aircraft company. The americans did not have a vietnam to fight with them so they sold the design and it was taken on and modified by Soko in Jugoslavia. I do understand a few other countries actually tried them but dont know what and where survives except about 8 in storage in the US 1 possibly 2 in France Four here in the UK and the rest I think I am right in saying are in the countries of the former Jugoslavia in Museums and lying sorry for them selves on airfields.I have been told that there is one still flying in the former Yugoslavia but dont know for sure.

But as the saying goes UNLESS YOU GUYS NO DIFFERENT I would be interested to hear.

When you want to pop up over a hedge and knock seven bells out of something speed aint everything.
If you want to be able to operate out of a rough field,or a gravel track or a road side verge there aint much besides a helicopter and a Kraju that will do it.
Look it up and you will be surprised at what it could and did carry for its size ?.

It went up against a lot of things much bigger and faster and survived !!!.

Speed and a nice juicy tail pipe for a SAM isnt everything !!!!!

Stability says a lot at times look at the Hurricane a lot slower than the Spit but a lot more stable and could withstand far,far more punishment. An excellent gun platform .

I am aware that the link contains discussion about the contentious issues surrounding this aeroplane. The very reason for Rare Aero’s statement was because of the public airing of these issues.

I am again not sure what point you are making…or else I am missing your point.

In relation to the second sentence of your last post I would draw your attention to the last part of post #42 in the link I have already provided.

Firebex – the custodians of the Me 109 have declared their position with the aviation press and with the Indian authorities. I would invite you to re-read Rare Aero’s statement.

Thank you Andy for pointing that out.I was not trying to be contentious just to agree with the comments about the sides directly involved should air their positions and everyone else who is not directly concerned should stand back and let them get on with it instead of some at times ambiguos statements.Hopefully when its all sorted we shall all be able to see this wonderfull aircraft back where it should be restored and hopefully flying !!!
