As has been said I think that the currrent custodians/owners of the aircraft should declare their position in major press and aviation journals and with the Indian authorities.

Then anyone with an interest etc can either speak up or shut the hell up !!!.

I think everyone else should take a step back and hopefully the individuals concerned will keep not only this forum but the aviation world up to speed on their very interesting project.

Lets hope it all resolves itself very quickly and before long we are blessed with an original axis aircraft on the airshow scene.!!!!

    It is G-BSXD (146)

Thanks Phantom phil I am hopeless at registrations its just something else to mask ,paint and stencil on the side and under the wings. As if there aint enough to paint on.

Talking paint anyone know the correct scheme for one of these beaties ex jugoslavian airforce. She is in a sort of faded green and blue grey with some bands on the tail and a star on the side of the fuselage.Serial on top of the fin.

My best I think from memory is built in 1976 so a fairly late one and c/number is not very clear but could be either 415 or A15 thinks it sthe first as it perhaps would not make much sense to A15 ?.

Any infor from any source on cockpit layout and contents appreciated as my friends has been considerably updated in the cockpit.

I dont believ how much the wheel rims and knackered tyres went for £790 .I am not 100% but think they are mk 14/16 onwards and definately not B of B as advertised so someone is going to be very upset if they bought them for their war time collection to stick on the drive !!!.

Thye gent seems as many do to be rather liberal with the phrase B of B and Spitfire for parts that sometimes could be almost anything !!!

I suspect the value in the rear canopy section, Firebex, is in the frame rather than the perspex.

Maybe but they aint rocket science to manufacture are they Andy ???

The Nimrod AEW was started by Labour in 1974 and cancelled by the Conservatives in 1986. She suffered from a lack of processing capability and getting seriously hot from her relatively small dimensions.

As for Elvington -it’s gone a little of course from the recreation of a WWII bomber airfield as was on my first visit circa 1984. Possibly the most significant locations for ‘Budgie’s would be Manchester and East Fortune.

Funny I dont remember getting to hot,and as for space we had tons of it just not enough spark to drive it all !!!!.

Rear canopy just gone for £500 plus silly money for second hand.

You can buy brand main new canopies circa £600 and the rear for less and that is NEW not dubious heritage and scratched to hell and back .

Some bits of interest but others as has been commented upon perhaps a question mark should be placed in the appropriate place in this gentlemans adverts ?. Perhaps a lesson in carefull wording when flogging off the surplus ?.

This isn’t the remains of the (in)famous ex. Turkish Spitfires that have been rumoured for many a year is it ?

If so then it looks like those Turkish boys were pretty thorough during the scrapping process.

If I am on the right adverts as there are a few he is also stating genuine B of B if not a very risky statement !!!!!

Would imagine that only DAS would have the means to look after a Budgie?! Getting hold of one is probably the easy bit, having the space to keep it and the manpower to look after it are the real problems!

Plenty of schemes to restore it into!!

Somewhere like Elvington would be good they have a Herald all ready so a 748 would go nice !!!!! Plus if it kept its elastic bands they could run it up !!!

Hey I woprked on that one !!!! In fact I worked on most of them on the line at Woodford in between Nimrods and things.

What happened to GARAY in the end ??? If I remember rightly she was the one that was half 748 and half 780 (Andover)kneeling undercart and dropping ramp demonstrator or was that the P reg one ?.
    Its been a long time.

I do remember a certain very large wooden mock up of a proposed airliner taking shape at the beginning of one of the lines. HS146 they had in mind for it but they cancelled it saying it would never happen.Funny how a few years later the production aircraft are being broken up at Kemble and Exeter.
What was that other one we had oh yes HS800 and HS801 one of them being Nimrod not sure if the other wasnt the flying bumble bee (AEW).shame about the latter plenty of space for anything they wanted to chuck on board we just could not generate enough electrical power and then the politicians and Boeing got involved. (that again was a Labour government if I am not mistaken.Lets screw the aircraft industry !!!)

Aaaachhhh !!! LOL Thanks Jon 😀

    Firebex,
Great info,– best of luck with operation and yes, please ask more when you next get out to Malta, amazing what can turn -up. Wonder if the wrecked Sea- Hawk was pulled out of the sea ??

    Bill T.

Thanks sorry Ray had not told me it had been cleared it was full of all sorts including 3 Hastings,a Canberra, remains of a Boston and a Stuka and bits of another Spitfire and that was on top of the pile !!!!!.The Sea Hawk was on top of another I dont think she was in the sea as she had evidence of a fire and fire practice with axes I think she must have come off the Dump at Hal Far when the Royal Navy moved out and the Americans moved in.Hope to get over later in the year again for an update so will try and track down with Ray if the stuff got melted or was it moved to another Yard ??

Just to throw another Sea Hawk hat into the ring I have been involed for many year sin fact from the start with the Malta aviation museum .
As you are probably aware we have one of Nev Martins ex Sea Hawks over at Taqali.
But what you may not know is in one o our gold mine scrap yards over there we also have the reamains of another Sea Hawk very badly hacked about.
We think she came from the Dump at Hal Far in the 1960’s as the yard has been a time capsule since basicaly late 1960’s very early 1970.The fuselage whats left of it is in two parts including the cockpit, she has been axed just behind the pilots seat position and has been well guttted out.
BUT from memory there are /where a pair of wings a bit battered standing up in a corner.
I was due to be going back over this month but sadly a meeting with a surgeon and a scalple is going to delay that somewhat.
Does anyone know the likely ID of this aircraft and woudl you like me to ask the guys next time they are going in there(not often these days)to have a look at the wings and see if they are Sea Hawk,
