If you are looking for ugly french a/c, have a look at the late 40ies early 50ies Sud Aviation jets :
SO 6000 triton is one of the ugliest french jet ever imho
And the espadon from the same manufacturer can’t be said to be a beauty either.
On the orther hand their Narval does have some charm 🙂 (but its not a jet)
Kovy
Thinking of the thirties bombers, by comparison the Triton is a beauty queen… 😀
.2 The problem with the X-32 stemmed from it taking off vertically, going, supersonic, and landing in the same configuration. when you put the radar blocker on, the plane had trouble breaking the sound barrier. with out the blocker, the plane wasn’t stealthy.
The X-32 had no troubles going supersonic, it had troubles with the STOVL thingy, not with speed and not with Stealth.I might have misread you (blaming the sparkling wine here, my wife just had the infortunate idea idea of opening a spare botle that survived the new year night…) but no one took a “radar blocker” off in order to go supersonic, they took off the “chin” in order to land (verticaly) the dam thing.
3. The x-32 had issues with hot gas ingestion near the ground, causing what appeared to be a near compressor stall in one instance.”
Yep
5. The X-32 was god awful ugly.
Oh yeah. If a mandatory KPP was something like “design the worst looking fighter since… well, ever” the X-32 would have won the JSF program!
Cheers
curious to why Pakfa went that route, after all it does get icy there. unless they did end up adding a heated blocker.
Neverseen any mention of a radar blocker on the T-50 and the air duct/intake design patents of that particular aircraft are public, unless i´ve misread them (a real possibility, my weak english crossed with a google russian_English translation…)

Quit posting sexy jets, topic is fugly ones 😉
However, even good looks can become bad looks simply by applying a crappy paint job.
Sorry 😮
I´ll try amends…
Goupil Duck (built by Glenn Curtiss at Buffalo, NY)

and a more recent one

please , guys, we are in an Aviation Forum..!
let’s be GENTLEMEN !!

You are aware that John Steed (the chap on the photo) did use some pretty rough “conversational techniques” (hint, umbrella) with its oponents… I hope you are not implying that we should do the same here 😀
I´ll get me coat…
Mirage was the beautiful plane I was referring too, much better looking than Rafale. Only the Mirage F1 was a bit ugly, all other Mirages are gorgeous, including the IV. The only thing with the Mirage 4000 is that it looks like they’ve taken the canopy from an F-15 😀
Well, if you like Mirages… you must be a decent chap 😀
Mind you, the Mirage family is composed of several diferent aircrafts, in fact if you think that the MIII, the MIV, and the M2000 are gorgeous then you love the looks of a great big piece of France´s combat aircraft family.
I´ll give you an (almost) ugly Mirage, here you go:

I’m not ‘anti-France’, but clearly there have been very few beautiful French aircraft.
Do give it a try to Arsenal´s (not the Arsene Wenger Arsenal) VG-33/36 or the Amiot 350/351/354 (below)

While Britain was designed many ugly ones, they have designed amongst the most beautiful too.
However, I’m well aware that the best looking jet aircraft of all was an Anglo-French design 😎
Well, i´ll leave a French uglie:
SNCAC NC 1071
One of which is France, a country which has only ever produced one great looking aircraft in its history. [/IMG]
?!!!!!!!!!
Definitely beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

and most ugly ones usually come from this one country
all their airplanes look pregnant.
?!
I know that beauty is in the eye of the beholder, but…

Dude, seriously, the UK should consider joining the Next-Generation Bomber program. I mean c’mon, this would be a win-win situation for both countries! The US would get some additional technical and financial support to develop the thing and the UK would get a long range strike aircraft AND a second platform for launching nukes for a lot less money than if they were to develop something on their own.
Dude, you have just ressurrected a 2001 thread…
The forums at scramble have a link to a site that claims that China bought the production line for the Tu-22 Backfire for $1.5 billion. I don’t know how reliable the source is though. The site mentions their source is the China Times, but their site is in Chinese only, so maybe someone who does speak Chinese can look it up?
Rumours about the TU-22M and China exists for three decades.
The production line for the TU-22M stoped twenty years ago, what are the chances of the machinery still be in working order? And dont get me into the feasability of building from scratch new NK-22 engines…
If the Chinese feel the need for a theatre range striker they will almost certainly look at what every one in the West is seriously looking, an unmanned/optionaly manned stealth platform, not an overgrown Tornado/F111/SU24.

While “CUDA” is just an internal LM study, Darpa´s “Triple Target Terminator” is an actual program with a contract and budget alocation. And Darpa´s T3 is very much a long range BVR weapon.

Hmmmmm…. Deino or Slowman.
Who to believe?
Deino AKA Andreas Rupprecht co writter of this:
http://www.harpia-publishing.com/index-ModernChineseWarplanes.html
Thats a dificult one… 😀
Someone remind me what country China bought some of these from.
Mexico…
Obviously…
Chinese are smarter than Americans. I don’t think Chinese would have a problem besting Americans when it comes to the inside systems.
Yes, awesomeness is served with noodle bowl´s … the same goes for attractiveness…
Why do i have the feeling that lately some topics have the discussion at “Po” level?
