    Hmm.
    Home life is pleasantly constant.

Work, well the worst year of my 35 years in work. No pay rise yet our profit is up greatly – tired old excuse of the “Global recession”. I’ve worked a total of 14 “Ghosters” in 2010 (Where I worked all night after Dinner and gone to work afterwards at 7am). Such is the understaffing policy. And I don’t get paid overtime of course. They don’t assist employess in any way whatsoever “If you don’t like it then feck-off” being the prime attitude. We can’t do so, being stuck on an Island. Worst employer ever, I’ve worked for 6 major employers and learned about hundreds.
I’ve been in this job 4 years and have been digging the escape tunnel for 3 of them. Job offers don’t come towards old gits. It was too late to change my mind after a year, having moved off the mainland etc.
Hopefully 2011 will see me get another job, and hopefully I can hand in my 4 weeks notice…less holidays and be gone in a week. Whenever I’ve left previous employers I have gon out of my way to ensure a good handover, I’ve even been available to be contacted afterwards. “Never burn a bridge”. When I leave this place, they can rot and burn. I will only assist a few people that I value there. In fact, there is a potential Court case between them and an aeroplane OEM. If I’ve left I’d join the other team for a fee, and join this employers team for a higher fee.
“Find a job you love and you’ll never do a days work in your life” is SO SO SO SO true.
Stuck in a job you hate is possibly as bad as being stuck in a marriage you hate. Maybe worse, there’s more partners out there than jobs!

    There, vitriole vented!
Happy Buddhamas, or whatever it is theis year.

Almost all the ‘improvements’ that modern cars have had over the years become distinct liabilities in snowy conditions on the roads; (particularly) wider tyres, ABS brakes, power steering, more powerful engines with greater low-end torque and (far more) automatic gearboxes, plus cars are a lot heavier than they used to be (and so take a lot more stopping).

Peoples overall driving ability doesn’t help either but it seems that the ‘average’ driver doesn’t even think that they will struggle with the road conditions until they are uselessly spinning one front wheel at full throttle on a minor gradient, and blocking a major road artery in the process!

Still it only happens every winter.

First sign of ice, my car stays where it is. Rear wheel drive automatic 4 litre V8. No way on ice!!!!
In fact I may move it to the car park nearby to prevent numpties skidding into it.

It isn’t common sense to use gears.
If common sense was the norm, there would be a million things not happening which happen today.
95% of people have an office job and most of them have never had any practical experience of “Mending stuff” and are quite oblivious as to how a car/machine works. Get in it and go attitude.
Example, I work with a 32 year old at work, he cycles to work. He has the bikes brakes and tyres checked at Halfords every month. When they need replacing, he pays Halfords to do it. (This is not on some sort of maintenance contract btw). I asked if he was ashamed to be a male, not being able to check and change rubber brake pads and tyres on a goddam pushbike. His reply “It’s only money”.
    Sheesh.

Apart from the fact the young nipper has sold out on the oath he swore to his birthplace nation.
What I find very important is that we, as a civilised democracy chose and voted for these people based on what they say, if the opposite is done in real life then that’s wrong on all levels.
I expect Politicians to lie in their day-day interviews, it’s page 1 of the job description along with avoid and misdirect…….but to lie on a manifesto is not on.

Absolutely disgusted to see that his death wasn’t even mentioned on the BBC 6pm news!

Peedee, yes he died in hospital after complications from neumonia.

See other replies to my post. My credit to the man was to drift the thread into one of his famous remarks from Airplane.

In Police Squad, I fell out of the chair when he once went undercover as a Locksmith to catch the bad guys.
He walked into a room and a (Suspect) man said “Who are you; and how did you get in here!”.
In that dead pan only LN could do…”I’m a locksmith and, I’m a locksmith”
