I’ve no time for Obama, and the US pop. is possibly now regretting the novelty vote.

Don’t forget, we in the UK do not have free NHS. Last time I looked I was paying nearly 9% of my hard-earned in that payment on my payslip. That would buy me a fantastic BUPA deal!

I was taking a short cut through Manchester’s UMIST university Complex and came across this street sculpture named ‘Eureka’ I didn’t think that was the most descriptive name for this Artwork more like ‘No more Vindaloo’s for me’

You do know how the word Eureka came into our language as a proclamation of discovery I presume?

It does look like Phil the Greek, not Archimedes the other Greek.

It also looks like Jeremy Thorpe.

Is the master standard “Metre” still in a cellar under Paris?

It’s a length of bar, Nickel IIRC, about 4 inches diameter and exactly 1 metre long, measured by bouncin a laser off the moon for all I care. It remains the master in case we all lose the slaves.

Ah, but Ratners just re-branded and IIRC they are still going strong today. But I can’t remember the name.

The full speech of Ratners was actually all true, but we only focused on his single remark. In “Crap” he was comparing his Fashion jewellery to the great jewels of Russia and Egypt etc. so in the context he was honest.
However, bad press or bad news is faster than light.

Luck you, I wish Iwas in the same boat. Go for it and good luck. A few years ago I worked it out that the Canadian cost of living was about 50% of ours but their wages were about 75% so although you earned less you could still afford a better standard of living.

My rough calcs indicate same, but I want “Real” figures. I have been as a tourist about 12 times. I have family there, but I don’t want to ask them in case it all fails. They are really wanting me to go and have pestered me since 1968. ha ha, ’bout time I went.

In a bad DJ type of link, our town chased out Maxine Carr. The GF of the Huntley parasite. She worked in the Library.
She had a changed face, changed ID etc. but strangers here are always checked up on by the network of townsfolk. She was rumbled and it was made clear what was likely to happen. Police scooped her off within 2 hours.

Yes Steve, not only old, but male. There’s no fun flying Qantas from the UK to Oz I can tell ya 😉

The “Qantas” ones were originally USAF and they pre-date the internet.
