I was part of RN on that night. We, as Sailors prayed for the men in the Sea.
Once the asset is removed….the fight takes a different turn.
Argie Pilots were also commended for their flying skills and bravery by British forces and vice versa.
In fact, there was once a long thread over in Military where an Argentine lad was swapping notes with his old enemy, and vice versa. I wasn’t happy at some of the information being exchanged but the MoD were monitoring it anyway.

Thanks Arthur. I think the Skyways machines only had the livery for 3 years, they were leased.
It’s not vital, just interesting. I’m pretty sure it’s Ringway…every time I look at it it bongs a bing in my head.

That’s the underlying point, but the main point is that the Islands are still British territory, with British citizens on them. Until this shower sell it off and give those inhabitants a part of Wales, we shall defend it.

We all know about the casualties and wounded, but let’s not drift into show me yours and I’ll show you mine territory. Yes, it’s nasty…but it is the only way some people can understand that **** off means **** off.

I find some of this hard to fathom. German fighter pilot: –
    1) Finding time to bother about a man when there could be a real ARMED machine on your tail.
    2) Getting close enough to be of any use may mean a veery grave danger of entaglement with chute.
    3) To hit a small target with guns which are 2 maybe 3 metres apart would mean wobbling the rudder to get a spread. This also takes a few seconds of burst, wasting valuable ammo (OK the centre gun on a 109 doesn’t apply here)
    4) Despite “The Nazi” animal of the regime, the professionals doing the actual work had respect for each other. Example, the 109 pilot showing the B29 the way home.
    5) Sailors certainly had this respect for each other, as they know that once a ship is hit, the Sea is the common enemy. U-boats did not pick up survivors because there was not enough room.
WW1 had the gentlemans wave yes, but I still think some of this carried on into WW2.
Comrades from both sides still meet on battlegrounds and share stories with very little or none hard feelings.

Compare that to the present situation, facing cowardice of the terrorist, an enemy that has absolutely no respect for who or why they kill.
Will today’s opposing conmrades still meet in 50 years time? I doubt it very very much. The other lot will still feel it is their devine right to kill. This is why we must win, and win absolutely.

Well, if they are daft enough to have another go, I’m pretty sure we can make it 2-0. Mind, this lilly-livered bunch of idiots at Nr 10 will possibly do a deal and cower like a yella belly.

Slightly related to Falklands 1, couldn’t they have found an English actress to play Thatcher instead of Meryl “I’m the best actress in the World just ask me” Streep?

    ….another observation on that picture.
The owner says it was a holiday snap of his parents.
I doubt very much if it was taken with any kind of zoom lens, so…if that’s the old 06 end, looking South at Jacksons Brickyard…then where was the photographer stood? Looks like on the taxiway?
In those days, there was a road across the runway wasn’t there? Could be at the barrier point of that maybe?
