From the latest reports it would appear that the BBC is wrong – not for the first time. Quoting fiction as fact is a symptom of the need to be the first with a story. As one of our members has as his signature – “never let the facts get in the way of a good story”.
Well, “Wrong” isn’t the word. They reported the breaking news from Germany. Now discounted as the Cucumber but source unknown. 17 dead.
Of all the news agencies in the World, I’d sooner trust the BBC than any of them.
The Soviets have jumped on the “Ban ’em” campaign now too.
Quote BBC…”The country’s chief medical officer said EU-produced vegetables would be seized across Russia”.
If it wasn’t for the 17 souls and 1,500 illnesses, this would be a very good Monty Python sketch!

You are right – nothing has been proved yet. We suffered far worse with the cattle disease which was shown after the event to have been a massive over-reaction from just about everyone involved and decimated our beef industry for years. Such is the nature of foul rumour. So be thankful it is only cucumbers!!:)
What foul rumour?
The BBC stated the only cases of the E-coli were found on Organic cucumbers exported from Spain into Germany. Nobody doubted the Spanish Cucumbers for quality etc. I eat lots of them mesen.
It must be something like dirty water (For washing them) at one particular Poly-farm.
The Lidl (German shop) had a glut of them, so people had associated hte German connection. And, as I have a 2 year old I’m not taking the risk for a week or two.
The death toll is now at 14, it’s a bit more than a rumour.

BN have been planning it for a couple of years, hence a lot of the trouble with the Farmer/owner of the land at Bembridge. It’s not all the Farmers fault, according to ex BN employees that refused the move to Lee.
Good to see Lee getting a relife though.
If you’ve got the money, the F-28 build licence is available to sell.
Nice set of shots again.
Did you actually do any Piloting LoL?
The tailcone does jettison as an emergency exit. It has an arming handle on the rear entry door either above or below the door handle (long time since i did the course!) I believe jettisoning the tailcone allows the rear door to continue to be used as an emergency exit in the event of a wheels-up/belly landing (you could exit across the now-horizontal stairs)
On the vid, an inflatable chute comes out of the Cone area. Why’s that then?
When will it end for the B787? It seems they knew about the issue late-2009, and it is nearly mid-2011 now. Some people at Boeing must been losing a lot of sleep at night.
I draw your attention to post 34, point 4

Thanks for clarifying.
I dont suppose there are any overhead photos of LHR from around the 50’s through to the 80’s are there? It would be nice to see how it changed over that period of time.
I’ve just checked and failed…….but I thought Google Earth or Google maps had a history button where you could see the above view from any they had on record. Obviously photo’s not Satellite images.
I’ve seen it somewhere and it would have been something as popular as Google as I don’t wander too far into the net.
Yonks back, I put a footer on asking where PMN is.

Any piccies of the Nord 262? which frequented Ringway in the 70’s?
G-AYFR I think it was.
And the pleasure flights Auster G-AOBV which would be often parked very near it on the Domestic Pier.
A smooth waxed surface does not necessarily improve the drag coefficients when compared to a “Rough” surface. Yes, Mush head rivets are a no-no when compared to flushed but, in certain circumstances a rough skin can trap air in a way as to make the air passing over it far far smoother. Known as Shark Skin technology, for obvious reasons. The article you’ve clipped is aimed at Schools so has no need to go into details.
And, lift is not the opposite of weight. It is not the opposite of gravity. Lift is a force perpendicular to an aerodynamic planform. An unequal cross-section Vertical Fin will produce lift. Most if not all single engined nose mounted prop Light A/c have a vertical wing not a Fin (In terms of shape). It needs to produce a little “Lift” to counter the torque of the prop. and keep the fuse dead straight. Me109’s were the first to do this IIRC.
Edit. Trim tabs on a 50/50 shaped Fin could do the same job, and probably cheaper.
