Yes, with the lumps off, the A/c would move back along the conveyor belt, there would be some movement of the wheels so it wouldn’t go back at quite the same speed. Do it yourself with a bit of paper and a heavy Dinky toy.
As soon as some thrust is added, the A/c will move forward until it reaches the counter of the belt speed then it will “Actually” go forward until V1 and skywards.
The wheels are nothing to do with the equation. For those who still believe the A/c won’t move, then ask thesen why A/c are heavily tethered for an engine test.

That when the boss leaves a voicemail saying “Return my call as soon as possible” what he really means is ‘Travel back in time three minutes and call me first’

How about a Boss (Higher than my Boss) that books a meeting with No title nor agenda, between you/him and the head of HR!

It was mundane in the end, but I thought it was because somebody grassed me up on looking for other work. This place would find a way to sack you and therefore avoid paying any extra hours to somebody that no longer gives a hoot.

    (1) That people not familiar with statistics should not be let loose near numbers. This especially includes people in HR. 20% of employees say they do not want to be working here in the next 12 months. HR stated that 80% wanted to stay and put it as a high scoring positive!!!! HELLO!!!! COFFEE!!!!
In an area where there is between 0 and maybe 5 Defence/Aero jobs within 30 miles, 20% want to be away within a year? That is a serious problem!
(I’m one who voted that way, and hopefully I’m gone V soon!)

    (2) That all street surveys are based on 100% of people that are too dim to avoid a student with a clipboard.

    (3) I need a 10 week holiday on a Beach. Yesterday, I was thinking I needed a 2 week holiday.

I still think that it is cheaper overall to put the luggage into the hold, which has been specifically designed for it. The hassle, inconvenience and damage caused by trying to fit large bags into small spaces would leave you amazed.

But 25 mins is saved in “Getting home” time.
There is also the matter of what people are taking away with them. They need some lessons on packing for light travel.
Yesterdays trip of mine was one night only, so I only needed 1 off shirt/socks/nickers and shave / teeth stuff.
But, for a week away I can still get away with a bag no larger than a carrier bag, 4 shirts/ties, jeans, shoes, socks, nickers, bathroom gear. All but shirts and Jeans fit in my shoes. As soon as I get in the hotel, the shirts are unfolded and hung in the shower room, with the shower on 40 degC for 10 mins. The steam returns them to “Just Ironed”…a bit like memory cotton LoL.
The amount some people take on a short business trip is truly wierd.

That’s a check in issue then?
At Southampton (Tuesday), everybody with a hand baggage larger than a carrier bag was asked to place it in the cage to prove it was regular.
On the return leg from Amsterdam yesterday, far fewer people were asked to “Cage” it but this chappy and myself had to.
But that’s Flybe, they tend to try and do things properly IMO.

(Apart from taxi at 70-100 mph on the corner off the Runway, surprised the tyres stayed on the rims!…he didn’t slow down much until parking up!

BAe own the land but don’t really use it.
Airbus uses it a little, but would prefer to consolidate all its work at Chester.
Airbus Military – TBH I don’t know how those A400 Spars and L/e T/e are shipped out of Filton.
GKN doesn’t use it and doesn’t need to. The A350 Rear Spar and FTE is (a) Now not made at Filton, but at Western Approach (No, not the Wartime Bunker in Liverpool) and (b) Is to be hauled by road to Chester anyway.

I think GKN own the listed building (The original Bristol A/c Corp.) which is covered in canvas. If so, it will stay that way until it falls down within. GKN will not put a penny into something they can’t make a margin on.
A flaw in the “Listed Buildings” rules is that you are not legally bound to maintain the building. You cannot alter it for sure.
I’ve seen it so many times, they let them rot until such time the Environment lot declare it as unsafe and it gets pulled down.

I suspect the footage as seen on YouTube and everywhere else depicts events as happening somewhat faster than they actually did.
I’m guessing that it’s come from a standard CCTV camera recording at something like four or five frames a second, which means that as seen it’s probably speeded up by a factor of five or thereabouts.
With 60-odd people on board, unfastening their safety belts, starting to stand up, groping for hand luggage etc – and yes, I know they shouldn’t be doing it – a violent wrench round at the speed suggested by the footage would have produced a lot of broken bones on board the RJ and even, heaven forbid, the possibility of fatalities.
If anyone has definite knowledge to ther contrary that I’m willing to stand corrected, of course.

I don’t think it looks that fast in the first place. I mean, I don’t think it’s speeded up on the film and it looks no faster or slower than today’s taxi speeds, which must be around 40, 50 mph?

If the A380 was going very slow, I would suggest the CRJ would have had more damage. As it happened, the impact caused it to bounce out of the way, springing off its undercarriage. If the A380 was going dead slow, the CRJ would have been pushed along more, scrubbing the tyres. This would have bent the Vert Fin.

There are plenty of those baggage size check gizmos everywhere. Several at check in, several at security and several at each gate.If your bag doesn’t fit, you pay. The maximum sizes are clearly printed on your online check in sheet and all over the FR website.
If you waited until the gate to find out, and your bag truly is bigger than the clearly indicated max size, that’s your fault

    edit: I don’t believe I’m defending FR!!

    That is not the issue.
Yesterday I was on a Q400, the guy in front of me (At check in and at A/c seat) had a laptop on wheels thing with a retractable handle. It fitted in the 9x14x22 cage with half an inch to spare all round. It did not fit in the overhead locker of the Q400, and it did not go far enough under the seat to be secure. The dinner lady took it up front somewhere.
My point being that the A/c don’t always match the 9x14x22 rule.

Well, the modern conflicts are in countries that are actually not worth managing or owning. Just get the oil and leave the rest of it to fester, oh did I release the long term plans again, damn.

As for Tibet and China, like Tibet can do anything about it? We should assist them, a good ruck with China will battle prove a lot of our kit and reverse the spending cuts.
Russia Japan. Not sure Japan is truly interested in getting it back? What’s Kan up to? Diverting attention away from the disaster into something which the Japanese people feel strongly about(Against) the Russians? But, the Northern territories people themselves want to stay with Russia, so I read.
