yeah, but she is a hell of a looker and that’s all that matters.

They say imitation is the most sincere form of flattery.
Perhaps not when meeting Stephen Hawking for the first time.

A superb ad, but basically the Nat./ Lottery is cashing in on the “Help for Heroes” image that is already in everybodies hearts. They want to sell more lottery tickets, whoever they actually help is the secondary aim.

As for the Japan problem, when one reads of the attrocities carried out by them, one realises that the Nukes were not soon enough nor big enough.
And, no there are not many Japanese products anymore, even they have had to offload to cheaper nations. Not necessarily China as there is an in-built hatred between them, like Arab/Jew.

I dont know about animals,–but there’s a few humans on this world that need their rights taking away …..!!!!!!

Yeah, I excluded those. Some needs rights taking away, some need killing for the sake of just being human, some need sorting out with a small War.

The Japs slaughter the Dolphins…they say..to protect fish stocks. That’s just a lie and we all know it.

It is still a percieved intelligence in Whales / Dolphins and any other living being that is not human.
And, it all depends on doing the measurement. In the 60’s Dolphins were found to be able to distinguish between different metals (All painted to remove visual assistance). Very handy for planting limpet mines on Soviet Ships.
At the end of the day…it’s all for a reward of some description.

We are the superior race on this planet and we should use that superiority with due care. Kill for food, only.

PeeDee..the wrinkles on a B-52 don’t have anything to do with fatuigue.
So mentioning them in the current discussion is a bit of a misnomer.
And I’ll repeat, I don’t think the B-52s have ever been resparred…even for a SLEP.

The wrinkles is just another interesting point about structural movements. It wasn’t meant as a comparison.
I bow to your better memory on B-52. Having read the post on he C5, maybe it was that which was stuck in my head.

As for the wrinklles being intentional and there from new. Can’t buy that one. The movement allowables are intentional, the wrinkles are a consequnce of it. If they were built in, they would be a uniformed pattern that was manufacturable.

B-52 Spars. I didn’t mean (Or suggest) that they were re-Sparred because of any fails. I’m sure I read they were re-spared to ensure an extra life span, which would take the potential service life into the 2050’s.
The Fuse obviously wasn’t a problem, it must have been checked out properly because the visible evidence is so blatent.

As for the present cracking news. It’s a Qantas jet too, they must be getting a bit concerned/peed off with the A380.

I also think it’s one of the ugliest A/c ever made. But, I might be applying for a job back at Airbus so that’s where my opinion stops!

Duxford B-52. They are all like this (Well, all the ones I’ve seen).

If that’s how you see the British workforce then I’m clearly casting Pearls before Swine.

    There are many discussion points.
Yes, early Jappos were indeed terrifyingly crap.
Yes, I’m sure the Chinese will catch up with correct quality requirements, but they are Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay off yet. Trouble is, they are making parts and indeed whole aeroplanes that Westerners could fly on….whilst they learn.

    Money has no flag.
Businesses are (Were) running to China because the workers were on $2.50 an hour. You could get an hourly rate of about $27 per hour out of them (Chinese Government runs the export businesses like the mafia and insist on the firms putting minimum 60% profit on. Still cheaper than Eastern Europe and Mexico….on paper.
But, the people on $2.50 an hour (Now up to about $7.00 in 3 years) areno more than illiterate fools from fields. Two weeks training and they are putting aircraft parts together. They turn up at 7:30 and go home at shift end, not having used a single piece of initiative. Hopefully, the foreman or manager may have spent time at Uni or over in the West learning the correct way.

Well, the dream is finally ending, businesses with brains are moving out of China to Indonesia or other places, especially India. China has become too expensive, (19% escalation), the people are not the easiest to deal with at any level. The opposite of the Indian and Indonesians, they are supremely more intelligent and will offer savings ideas….put effort into the task, not just do it like an automoton.

I hope Nikon are supplying all the bits and China are doing the assembly. If China is selecting the supply chain then Nikon will be soon losing it’s reputation.

Biker? No, I had a Suzi 250 in 1974. That was it.
British bikes were killed off by the advent of affordable small cars (The British Mini!) and not an influx of Jappo bikes. But in later years, the latter didn’t help.

There is also the political view. Is it our duty to assist the developing nations?
Well, to an extent yes….but it is a far better solution to have some protectionism and keep the UK industrial base going. Oh, yeah, too late.
The Americans can do it, just about. But Americans are very proud of buying American goods. Rather than ban imports (Which goes against the GATT agreements and others), the people don’t want it…so there is no pull. Brilliant protectionism, no demand!!!!
If you and I refused to buy cheap imports, all would be well……but we cannot do this. We are all generally skint, because the wealth of the nation has gone and we’ve had bad pay for years now…because the industrial command has gone….and the circle is complete.
However, like Poland, the far east will become too expensive to send work to. The UK and Europe may become the next new market!

The other problem, is that the demand for goods and potential sales in China is breathtakingly massive. So, companies need a hold in Chian in order to be part of that market.
The Biz jet, General aviation and Helicopter market is presently NIL. All airspace is controlled by the military and no private flying. Well, as the people get wealthier, they will demand that to change. There will be a massive uprising which will make the Arab ones look like a schoolboy fisticuff.
    Bring it on.
