Together at last with Mark and all the other great, brave and legendary pilots, I never met Ray but always felt privilaged to watch him fly and indeed Mark as well, my sincere best wishes and blessings I send to all Rays friends and family. Thanks Ray and 434 for some great memories which I will treasure forever.
just looked on metcheck and forecast for today looks quite promising, not much cloud, 23% maximum during afternoon and no rain due till around 6 o clock!
If Blackpools on, then the arse end of anywere should be on 😀
its official then….i really must be living in the arse end of nowhere! and there was me thinking that the middle of eleven group was once somewhere!
not familiar with this myself, but anyone prepared to do what it takes to recover any thing special like this gets my thumbs up and good luck
not that any knows who i am or probably cares!…but i will be there on Sunday, cant miss my favourite show of the season
personally my abiding memory from this year will be at duxford, Sunday 11th September in the fog and drizzle watching all our brave “boys ” processing around Duxford in the various forms of army transport, and with the eerie drizzle and low cloud covered line of Spits and Hurri’s lurking in a row on the airfield behind them, even though we saw no flying to speak of apart from the chinook and auster, it was a magical event.
also after having read Peter Vachers book, seeing his Hurricane fly was rather splendid too.
seems to only work if you live in a city, surely that will exclude the majority of people trying to add themselves?! i gave up in the end!
my favourite show of the season, and lets face it the weather cant be as bad as the last duxford airshow!…or can it!
first light was the first book of this type that i read, i have since read it twice more, an amazing book written by a brilliant man
