I was under the impression that the movable surface where this marking appears is electrically bonded to the airframe to reduce electrostatic EMI (Radio noise). Is this the same thing as “Wired Throughout?

As far as I know, yes!
It stands for
“Wired throughout” 🙂
Mind you if they were gay, left handed, single mothers of an ethnic minority and not a British Passport holder they would be given a grant without question.
I’m sorry… This is the Key Publishing Historic Aviation forum isn’t it?
For a moment I thought this was the single minded forum.
These comments do not belong here or anywhere else. Aviation related disputes are great, the above, no. 😡
And people moaned about HAC’s Hurricane!
I know which one I prefer the look of… (it is the Hurricane is anyone wondered)
In all the photos I have seen of it over at Chino, it still looks as good as it ever did here.
One of the best looking Spitfires around in my opinion!
What do you mean
more accurate colour scheme
???
Historic Flying has restored 12 Spitfires since it was set up by Karel Bos out of his “passion for vintage planes” 20 years ago.
When will people get this right???
Grumpy never had a tail turret…
Isn’t it in a similar scheme to the hurricane that is being rebuilt on Malta at the moment? I think that one is HAE.
Why all the “hmmmmmmms”?
I think it looks nice. Looking at it, you wouldn’t know it was the same Hurricane.
It looks like a Bolkow to me…
Well in my opinion, that makes it worth the money!
I think it looks a lot better there compared to how it looks now…

55 pounds? That is a bit steep for a few hours the other side of the fence, coffee and a flying display. As many people have said, Historic Flying Mark 1 had open days/fly in days every summer. I think we paid somewhere between £5.00 – £10.00 for a food donation and what ever money was left over went to a charity.
I lived in Saffron Walden at the time and it was nice to be given the opportunity to see what was going on just up the road from home. I went to many of these days and they were one of the things that made Historic Flying stand out from the rest in those days. Every year one or more of the spitfires flew. Black 6 displayed one year as did many other regulars from Duxford that were just passing through. This was a social event, not a commercial venture. You could get close to the aircraft, look around the faculty, talk to the engineers and pilots and if you were lucky, you even had a chance to fly with someone.
Many of the aircraft now in the HFL/ARCo hangars have been seen outside in various other hangars, so I would be reluctant to pay to see these aircraft in the “live side” hangars.
Where is the £55.00 going to? A charity? or HFL/ARCo’s pockets. If it going to the Blenheim rebuild, fair enough, but I cannot see HFL giving their slice to that particular fund.
I think I will save my money on this occasion, remember the good times and instead go to Duxford on the 9th of May to support the Merlins Over Malta day. I’d much rather donate my money to that cause.
Rant over with…
