how many open days did HFL have at audley end?.
C.N – You know perfectly well how many open days/bbqs HFL had at Audley end!
Whoops 😮 ,sorry,i remembered the P40 in the S-UE markings oneside and G-AS the other at Duxford many years ago,any idea why the markings are duplicated on 2 separate airframes?
They are two seperate aircraft. S-UE was looked after by OFMC before it returned the the US. G-AS is the TFC aircraft that went to france and then rejoined the collection later on.
I believe BM597 has the canons but not the machone guns…
thanks blueyonder, I look forward to getting your entry form
You are welcome Glenn! I do hope that everyone on here has brought a ticket!
Good luck with it all.
Maybe I’ll book myself a holiday in Malta.
Do you want any help picking them up ??
and that means???
Have you hard anything to say otherwise?
Ok! I’d hard about the project but I hadn’t put two and two together!
How about a nice Maltese Blue and Grey scheme?
Doe’s anyone know when they are leaving the country?
I’ve just entered the competition! Where shall I park my new Jag?
Where is it going? Has it been sold abroad?
Again, not much help, but the TFC Hurricane and Nimrod flew today…
Yes it is the CAF’s P-51C. The pilot was killed in the ensuing crash, into woodland I believe. Amazingly, they’re going to restore this one again!
It’s not the CAF example. This is Kermit Weeks’ P51C also in the redtail scheme.
I forget the name of the Battle of Britain organization he got the materials from (stencils and blueprints for the markings….
Could it be Vintage Fabrics from here in the UK? As MarkV says, the stencils do look very similar to the VF style
I believe he maintains the Fighter Collections website too and that hasn’t been updated for sometime now.
The Duxford Update website has in my view replaced what Ben used to have with The Duxford Times. I felt that was a much better site than the newer Flyvintage.
I think the photo was taken at Duxford and the Bristol Freigter crashed.
Is this another “american” spitfire paint scheme then?
The filming was for “Coltrane’s Planes And Automobiles”. I’m not sure what UK channel produced the show, but the Spitfire and 109 episode contained some great air to air of the aircraft.
It was a very good series. It followed Robbie Coltrane’s interest in engineering.
