http://www.cactuswings.com/ is no more. It used to be part of the below site, so this is all we have now of aviation in that area!
Good video there, needed a translator in places, but Mr. Nike made clear sense!
Good video there, but difficult to ascertain exactly how it was being moved. Is it supported on a couple of tugs? Looking at the way the light changed from day to night, looks as though they had a problem taking the right hand turn!
Thanks for the additional information and welcome to the Forum!:)
Umm, as far as it goes……

I seem to recall reading somewhere that it was converted back to a landplane. Anybody know better?
Ist flight, as a floatplane, 6/7/44, SOC 22/11/45. so presumably a short life.
That’s funny, felt dizzy just looking at the ‘flat’ shots!
Interesting idea, assume the propellors are going to refitted soon?
‘N220/G-BDFF Supermarine S5 rep., Lee on Solent 7.78.’
”1′ S1595 Supermarine S6B rep., Thorpe Park 5.80.’
Does “rep” mean replica?
Guess so wouldn’t you think?:)
At replica S6.B is with the Planes of Fame Museum at Chino, this is the one that was at Thorpe Park and may be the one from the Museum of Flying which is closed at present.
Oh dear. 🙁
Is there any info online about it, or photos? Was it wooden? Real Merlin etc?
Supermarine Replica S.5 G-BDFF crashed in 1984, was repaired and crashed, fatally 3/5/87. It was powered by a Continental 10-360. Photo of the plane at Lee on this site: (and the name is Viv Bellamy!)
Thanks UK, independent confirmation that it is in FR’s hangar, now why?
Interesting catch up statement from Justin Taylan after his release.
