I based my calculations on this web site describing the numbers built and destination of each mark.

If you want a flight, there’s five things that you need to do:

    1. Be within driving distance of S.E. England. Was in Cambridge last week!
    2. Get me some good references so I know you are not a psychotic nutcase.I used to own ‘DO
    3. Get some good references from people who say you won’t complain when you find out I’m the one who is mad.I used to do aerobatics
    4. Promise not to tell my Mummy I’m a pilot. She thinks I’m a piano player in a brothel.Hope it’s boogie!
    5. Never spell or write de Havilland or Gipsy incorrectly ever again. 🙂

    Promise:)

Felt sure that one of our forum super sleuths would have come up with an identity by now.
I always thought it was a Moth Major and assumed it was an ex Spanish AF example without a civil history but am prepared to be proved wrong on this.
Any enthusiasts’ groups in Spain that might know?
    Wicked Willip :diablo:

I have been in contact with Spanish groups about my identity problem and they all seem to speak Spanish!:o

I’ll do you a deal! If you correct your thread title from “Gypsy”:( to “Gipsy”, I’ll remove this post. 🙂

It’s not just a case of pedantry, it’s the fact that people use the forum for searches which may mean your thread was overlooked.

    You know it makes sense!!

    Big thanks

    🙂

Cost you a flight! I think only Mods can alter ‘titles’ oh the power and Blue Robin hasn’t done so yet! Advice appreciated.:)

    What more could you want?

A happy ending of course. Don’t forget it is better to give than to receive, we will get our reward in the end. It does annoy me when a thread runs and there is no satisfactory conclusion. I feel that we are writing or recording history in this Forum and the information is available for future researchers. From the grammar of the first poster, I would not think that English was their first language, and I also wonder at the reason for the question in the first place?

Was the Merlin really used on French prototypes? News to me, though I’ll admit my knowledge of French prototypes is rivalled only by my knowledge of Quantum Mechanics!

    Adrian

Yes, one Dewoitine and one Amiot were fitted with Merlins but obviously the supply of Merlins would have been non-existent after France was overrun. Really a bit if a red herring to include that information in the listing. Is there such a thing as Quantum Mechanics or are they Quantum Physics?

I dont think the “powers that be” would have any issue with an airworthy F-106 being flown. After all there are private A-4’s, an F-4 Phantom II, F-104’s, MiG-21’s, L-39’s etc.

I guess you’re right, I was getting muddled with my European bureaucratic mentality!

At current exchange rates ( £1 = 1.99 CAD ) the starting (reserve not met) bid is ‘only’ £25,100 , does your ‘wink’ mean you know that to meet the reserve a bid of £36,000 is required ?

You are correct, I did a Euro conversion to get 36G, only 25G for the U.K.:o
