    If I remeber correctly, Dieter Dengler sadly died a few years ago.

    That’s correct, Dieter died in 2001 of Lou Gehrig’s Disease and was buried in Arlington National Cemetery.

    What about the Catalina that was supous to fly from the UK to the Israeli Air Force Museum? I know it got stuck in France on the way to it.

    Presumably still ‘lost in France’ as no news has surfaced about it.

    Guess DCK didn’t see any DC-5 parts either?:D

    Sir Philip Albert Gustave David Sassoon, 3rd Baronet PC (4 December 1888-3 June 1939), was a British politician, art collector and social host, entertaining many celebrity guests at his home, Trent Park in North London, England.

    Sassoon was a member of the prominent Sassoon and Rothschild families. His father was Sir Edward Albert Sassoon, 2nd Baronet, MP, son of Albert Abdullah David Sassoon; his mother was Aline Caroline, daughter of Baron Gustave de Rothschild. His sister was Sybil Sassoon, who married the Marquess of Cholmondeley.

    The picture didn’t reproduce from the above link, but there is a book entitled ‘Sassoon’ ‘Philip and Sybil’ by Peter Stansky which might possibly give more information. Note correct spelling of Philip.

    As you know where Blaine MN is, we might be asking you to do some detective work on a certain Gannet that is residing there!;)

    The aircraft involved, OY-JRR was brought from Denmark for the winter season and this photo is by Terry Fletcher.

    Australian experts have been unable to decipher the cockpit voice recorder and it has been sent to the manufacturers in the U.S. for decoding.

    This link describes Gr. Capt. A.G. ‘Sailor’ Malan winning the 1938 ‘Sassoon Flight Attack Trophy’ as a flight leader. This was probably 74 Sqn.

    I don’t publish or reproduce people’s addresses, even if they’re in an online database, without their permission.It’s also not hard to do a four letter search off a link you’ve been fed, surely?

    Point accepted, but I expected the info. to be there without further searching, so was just trying to save others the necessity of inserting ‘four letters!’:) My initial aim was to post a photo, but the links didn’t seem to work this morning.:(

    Now I just figured that there is a gap of $2300 to $2500 between now and success.

    It would probably help if you told people where you are situated. It could be in China, USA or Canada as you are quoting dollars or maybe it should be in euros if you are still in Belgium?:confused: 🙂

    The captain survived the crash in which 21 passengers and one crew were killed and reportedly is being held in a military hospital. The head of GPA, identified in media reports as Captain Stephanus, said the -400 pilot reported that conditions were normal when the aircraft was 1,000 ft. above the runway. But then “the captain felt a downdraft” and the aircraft sank “rapidly,” Stephanus said.

    CNN reporting today that the nosewheel ‘snapped off’.
