There is a pilot named Pat Gilmore in the database who is an ATPL. According to the database, his medical expired June 2005, but the writer of the letter claims he retired in May 2006.:confused:

Another interesting Gallic oddity but your pic is of a Breguet Deux Ponts / Sahara and not a Hurel Dubois.

See Moggy, you can’t get away with anything even at 1.30 in the morning! Is this a French Airpark, looks as though you could live comfortably in that plane.

Update on crash.

Contrary to earlier reports, it now seems that the American pilot and one of the two Russian crew are in hospital in a coma. A criminal investigation has now been opened, which is normal procedure and there is a dispute about the plane, which landed upside down ,about the ownership of the plane. A Russian company is claiming ownership of the plane which arrived in Russia from Geneva on February 2nd.

Reuters are reporting that the Challenger 850 had an engine fire on take off and crashed onto the runway. The plane was operated by a Swiss company and the crew all escaped.

Additional information suggests that the plane might be N168CK, a CL-600-2B19 belonging to the Wells Fargo BAnk.

The pilot was Dr. Shimon Awerbuch, an advisor to governments and a senior fellow at the University of Sussex. His seven year old son and a female passenger were killed as they were on their way to Cannes for a vacation. The plane was a PA.34 Seneca and they were all American citizens.

where is the display board you refer to ? – it might save some walking 🙂

If I remember correctly, the kiosk is named the registration point and is on the main walkway not far from the control tower and parallel to the main runway.

Not a collector of American numbers but would love to take lots of photos of aircraft espeically homebuilds / Warbirds / exotic stuff and experiance the Show.Any more thoughts tips where to go and see….

Don’t forget that all the previous days arrivals are recorded on a display board so that if you were looking for a particular aircraft or type, you can keep a check on it without having to search the parking area for it! It is the best and most well organized air display ever, and clean. My only criticism would be the quality of the food, but that is not why you are there is it!:D

Always thought the FD.2 was a great looking aircraft, anyone have any ideas on why it had such a long undercarriage thus causing a restricted forward view?

Five years on exterior display? I would be very surprised if it ever flew again and have similar suspicions about the Sunderland flying again, I think they have too much on their plate to consider either project, but as Pondskater says, a statement from the Museum would be nice. Kermit Weeks seems to have whims and fancies (and money) to cater for anything that catches his eye, but then his enthusiasm goes off at a tangent. Maybe the Fantasy Museum needs its own thread.:rolleyes:

There are now two groups competing for the purchase of the Martin Mars. They are the British Columbian Aviation Council and the Glenn L. Martin Maryland Aviation Museum. Both groups are pledged to display one aircraft in a museum when their working life is complete which is expected to be in about ten years time.
