Plastic water main?
I was going to suggest that they install some improved fire fighting equipment next time and now discover that they had a water main the length of the pier for this purpose made of PLASTIC! The mind boggles. No mention of arson yet 🙁

These are taken from one of my favourite books, Russia’s Ekranoplans by Sergey Komissarov, Vol. 8 in the Red Star series.
Basically. the Russians didn’t have the money to continue development of these massive ‘vehicles’ and smaller craft have found a niche.
