I went to an airshow at RAF Warton as a kid and watched a Vulcan fly at about 200 foot from the deck and then pull almost vertical. The vibration was unreal, cars in the car park were shaking like jellies.
I agree entirely that we should not throw them round but the fact we have them means our relative strength is much higher.
Britain still has the bomb, so I guess, militarily at least we have a fair bit of clout.
