Great shots there.
Can’t see anything qrong with the quality on any of them.
Looks like a good airport to shoot too, with plenty of variety and some good vantage points.
Love the head on shots down the runway – a fair few dips in it!
I caught the An124 leaving NEMA on its way up to you 🙂
Andrew
Thank you for the comments 🙂
Really glad I went as it was a spur of the moment decision but well worth it. Seeing the An124 lift off was quite a sight so goodness knows what the An225 would be like!
It took off about midday today but unfortunately from posts on other forums it was fog bound so there were no photo opportunities.
Point of interest, it took the An124 about 45 minutes to reach Prestwick from NEMA according to the times on my photos the take off was at 15:18.
Andrew
Thanks for the map 🙂
I assume the lines are walking routes from your description.
Where do you usually park up? Airport parking or just laybys/roads?
I guess though if the An225 does land today/tomorrow the place will be heaving?!
Smell shouldn’t be a problem – I work for a company that builds sewage works! :p
Andrew
Excellent shots!
Where do you go to photograph?
I have never been to NEMA but would like to go but do not know where the ‘good’ places are.
Thanks
Andrew
Thanks 🙂
Had missed that option!
Just tested it with some photos from Kemble…
Andrew
Final one..
Taken from the Rapide after I decided to have a flight in it. Quite fun – certainly different to a modern airliner!
A few more!
Thanks for the comments 😀
I think they are not too bad given I do not know the airport etc.
Yes, I do have photoshop so any suggestions on editing is appreciated. Most were just sharpened a bit and the saturation upped a touch.
Just back from the Kemble Open Day too so more photos to come 🙂
Andrew
Thanks again for the replies 🙂
I decided to try Manchester yesterday as not been there before. Weather was fantastic too.
Excellent day out. Great facilities for viewing at the ‘official’ park and some good opportunities around the airport.
Spent a good while at the park then tried the Airport Hotel – never been to a pub like that before! :p
How close is that taxiway?!?
Finally got to try the Southside after I eventually found a space to park near the Holiday Inn. Probably the best place as you said Grey Area.
Shame there is not more parking!
Think I was lucky there as I understand that runway is NOT used between 12pm and 3pm? I arrived just before 3pm and I think they had just switched to using it.
Highlights for me were seeing some 747s. Very rare sight I think at BHX so not much opportunity for them – only ever remember seeing one when I used to go a lot as a kid with my Dad.
Will post some photos shortly but advance apologies for basic labelling. Civil aircraft is not something I am strong on yet!
Andrew
P.S. Tom dropped you a PM about BHX viewing.
Hi, thanks for the reply and the link!
I guess from the site the best places as you say are the 24L and 06L spots?
It mentions the Moat House Hotel. Is it OK to park in the car parks do you know? It just metnions ‘nearby’
Do not know the area at all.
