Perhaps the Percival Q6 in the Isle of Man.
Any news on this one then?
very nice shots, please post more if you can!
old black and white pictures of british aircraft, especially anything percival built
great news ! thanks for telling us
maybe someday I can get to see an airworthy belfast after all
Thanks for posting! what a beautiful aircraft! 🙂 🙂
I look forward to seeing this one fly, ( the best of luck with the paperwork 😉 )
If you don’t mind me asking, when was this proctor converted to vega gull standard? Is this recent or does this have a historical backgroud?
(I’m not trying to say it’s not original, just curious. I like the vega gull more than the proctor anyway 🙂 )
This is former Australian registered Proctor mark I VH-BCX, fitted with the pre-war sloping flat panel windscreen of the Vega Gull series
I’m even more interested now! I particularly like the flat panel windscreen as I think it looks more art deco than the rounded windscreen of the later vega gulls and proctors. If this baby flies could someone please post some pictures?
I’m afraid I won’t be able to help with the pilot notes or manuals, But can I ask which aircraft this is ? I love percivals and a new airworthy proctor 1 sounds like music to my ears 🙂
Thanks for posting, good to see G-AFAX being put on display, always loved this aircraft. Is the american observation type a converted cub?
Not quite, there is one in Brazzaville. It was damaged on landing a few years ago (a prop struck the ground I think) but remains complete, at least it was four months ago.
S.B.
Thanks for the info, I take it this is one of the 2 (or 3) that were still operating around africa and the middle east in the late 90s?
Not very likely that this one will be preserved either I guess but good to hear it is still in one piece. (sounds like you have seen it 4 months ago, any chance of a pic?)
With the guppy definately being scrapped, and the yukon in ecuador not likely to survive for much longer would this leave the world without an intact CL-44?
Thanks for the photos !
I love percivals, especially the ones in civil Colours 🙂
I really hope a suitable home can be found for G-ANCF, and most of all that she can be reassembled.
I saw her at the bristol aero collection in 2003 and i was hoping to return to see her restored to her former glory one day.
I was thinking , if no home for here is found in the uk (hope this is not the case)
Woundn’t some foreign museum be interested?
The Sinsheim museum in germany for example has quite a lot of big airliner exhibits. They already put a concorde next to a TU144, maybe they would like a Britannia to put next to their Ilyushin IL-18? would make an interesting sight.
And yes, I know that most of their aircraft are displayed on poles but I would rather see G-ANCF preserved in one piece on a pole in germany than rotting away in bits and pieces in the uk.
It’s just a thought, as I really hope she stays in the UK where she belongs.
At least Mr.B175 has given us a glimmer of hope in his last post
Interesting pictures, thanks for sharing !
I wasn’t aware that so many luftwaffe airframes were stil lying around in 1947/1948. I suppose that all of them got scrapped by say 1950?
Thanks for that list FL200 !
I thought I knew a thing or 2 about surviving percival aircraft, but there are heaps of airframes in there I knew nothing about.
Does anyone know how the restoration of Proctor G-AKIU is coming along?
I thought it was owned by the air atlantique classic flight but it is not on their site anymore. 1 or 2 years ago it was supposed to by nearly airworthy but there hasn’t been any news since.
Same question with Q6 G-AFFD, Is that at Sywell now?
Could anyone tell me if the Britannia at cosford is also under threat of being scrapped?
Cosford and the Britannia in particular have been on my must visit list for a while, so I would like to know if I need to hurry?
In fact, could someone list the aircraft under threat, someone mentioned 4or5 airframes but I thought there were more airliners on display at cosford.
