Excellent news on these Proctor restorations.
It is a wonderful type that has been ignored for far too long.
Good to see that the standard of work going on is so high, i’m pretty confident that we will see these in the air in a few years and I can’t wait to see that day.
(That possible barn find in scandinavia also sound exciting, good times for Percival enthusiasts!)
apparently there’s been one for sale in the UK for a number of years with no interest shown. I have no further details….
I guess you are referring to G-AOLK at Southend? I know this one was advertised for sale about 10 years ago, but I didn’t know she was still up for sale. When I saw her last year through the fence in Southend she looked in reasonable condition if not exactly active.
I would love to own a prentice (any percival really), But I haven’t got anywhere near the resources or skill to take on a project like that. It’s a shame though because an opportunity like this doesn’t come around very often. It will be interesting to see where it ends up (hopefully back to the UK?)
Fokker F-28 OO-DJA of Delta air transport in 1992
Antwerp to Brussels, all 10 minutes of it and unforgettable!
Thanks for the pictures!
She still looks in fairly good condition. Any idea where she is heading?
Interesting news. N206UP is a very interesting aircraft (if you like percivals anyway 😉 ) and it is about time something happened to it.
When I saw her about 9 years ago she looked shabby but not a wreck, I hope that hasn’t changed in the meantime.
Good luck with moving her and please keep us posted!
Great to see ! Looks like a perfect environment for restoring these 2 beauties. And thanks for sharing the progress of this fantastic project with us. I look forward to further updates (and even more to 2 more airworthy proctors in a few years time !!)
Nice !
I was going to see the vulcan this weekend but this is an unexpected bonus
Do You Mean G-AHGN?
There is an air to air picture of it overflying the capitol in Washington in the book on percival aircraft from the archive photographs series by Norman H Ellison.
I don’t have a scanner but it is in a light overall colour with a dark cheatline and registration on the rear fuselage. the upper part of the cowling is black and it also has an RAF fin flash .
Hope this helps
What an absolute beauty of an aircraft!
I have a feeling that it will indeed be years rather than months before she flies,
but when she does it will have been worth the wait.
And it’s good to know that she is being worked on.
The classic flight would be a good home for her, as would Old
Warden.
She would look lovely in formation with the Anson in the same colours don’t you think?:)
Thanks for posting!
I love old italian airplanes, especially all the tri-motors.
I allready managed to visit the Caproni museum in trento, but Vigna Di Valle is next on my list!
Brilliant news! 🙂
I had been looking forward to seeing this collection.
Seems like I have found a reason for another trip to old warden next year
I seem to recollect that it was a classic airliner show however nothing much turned up apart from the 3 above aircraft if my memory serves me well.
I would love to be at an airshow with an airworthy viscount and a Bristol Freighter!
I remember that I tried to go to this show, as it was only a short drive from the channel tunnel but I couldn’t make it in the end. And then they crashed the Freighter 2 weeks after that 😡
add a couple of Nimrods, plus (eventually) another Hind and an Audax and think of the attendance at an Old Warden evening display……………………
Hawker biplane heaven
After seeing this tread I went to look up some information about the duxford Nimrod, and I only just now realise that there are 2 airworthy nimrods in duxford! 🙂
So with the demon and the hind that would indeed make for a very fine display in old warden, can’t wait
Thanks for posting!
Always interesting to see some photos from the VL biplanes
