Talking of Lancaster conversions thought you may like to see my not quite so radical one.
Its a work in progress so I apologise for the blue talk holding some parts in place but a topical build after PA474 flew out of Coventry yesterday.
Its PA474 in an earlier guise when she was overall silver minus turrets but with a wing stuck on her top fuselage. Differant but not as diff as the previous posting 😉
A shame about the pics been released prematurely.
Id assumed the Lanc was leaving late because of press and TV duties. Shame somethings been ruined again.
Same with the Sea Vixen, Foxy Lady I seem to recall.
Im sure that the veterans will still be mightly impressed and moved by it all.
For the record Scottie somebody else noticed her before she had arrived in site at my window. :diablo:
Saw her fly out tonite at about 5.30. Strange as although aways moved by the sight of seeing the Lanc there was something tonight that made me think about what we are trying to remember.
Flying about 200-300ft or so over what in the foreground was railway and industrial buildings. Thoughts went to the last ones home after the raids. The stragglers. She looked a rather lonely sight in a very big open space and you could only think about what those boys did for us in the dark days of the 1940’s.
As the BBMF motto says Lest we forget.
Crackin pics though and doesnt she look nice. Well done to all involved with the Lanc you should all be proud of yourselves.
Already been following it Ben. :p
Odd little thing but strangley interesting. And this is from someone with little interest in military vehicles.
Will no doubt pop over and say hello to you at the event.
Que an ever observant Kenbo. Waiting patiently to correct Phantom Phixers next bit of duff information he bestows onto the forum. 😉
Will def be going to Brunty for this one Scotty. Play your cards right and we may let you tag along with us.
Ben, will the Kettenkrad be running? Ive heard the stories about how potent it is and Ive got to be honest Im curious to see it in action.
Blimey thats come around quickly.
Its hard to believe that they are on their way out so soon. Now Im feeling very very old. 🙁
Anybody know why the airframes are going to Cosford? I thought the schools that Im assuming would be using them at Cosford were moving to St Athan?
As the Sea Fury was being flown by a Fleet Air Arm unit would the best place to research the event be the Fleet Air Arm archives at Yeovilton rather than the……..RAF records? 😀
I really must learn how to NOT dribble at the sight of a nicely restored Spitfire in its element. 😀
“He may of had a nice shiney Beemer but he did say that my Beemer was also in good condition so their!!!”
Part of thier training. How to get on the good side of the nasty law breaking so and so. Ie flatter thier ego and befriend them. 😉
Anyway most dissapointing that we waited so long to see PA474 and only got to see an ATP and F-27 (Mmmmm Darts) run their engines.
Yes I agree its important advice Rob is offering and well worth him posting twice to make sure the advice is heeded by the potential law breakers amongst us :p
Anyway Rob, I dont think the nasty looks you gave the officer was all about the licence problem (which was later resolved).
I also think you were a little jealous that the nice officer had a shinier faster BM wubbleyou than you do 😉
Seriously though mate at one point I was thinking we were going to be making our way back by foot.
Fingers crossed all goes well tom.
I know its a chore workin on a sunday but its appreciated by many people. 😉
A top effort by all involved.
Watched some of the engine runs and flap tests this afternoon from the airport perimeter she looked (from a distance) and sounded stunning.
Is she running again tom at all?
I think I can help on the picture front as I down loaded it to mail to a friend. Dont tell the copyright police.:diablo:
I would be interested to know
1) How many people in the area are opposed to Kemble’s present day activities.
2) How many are happy with afore mentioned activities
and
3) How many dont care either way.
The trouble is the loudest people are always the complainers and the indifferant say nothing. I would also suggest that the press like to stir and over exagerate the level of support for causes like this.
I think if a proper survey was done of the locals the results may make an interesting read.
