The problem with donating items such as these to any museum is that they never see the light of day afterwards unless a very serious researcher knows of it and uses it accordainly.
If I was in a position too I would have the log book professionly copied including the front and rear covers looking like the original, just like the After the battle team did with Guy Gibsons log book and then sell copies to the public which after normal costs paid out the profit would go to relavent charities.
This way not just the infomation would be shared out worldwide but also charities would also benifet.
Just an idea.

Very much a case of “you can lead a horse to water but you cannot force it to drink”.

but perhaps if we wait just a while we can look forward to the announcement of Drone Monthly, !
God have “drone monthly” every day, every month, every year from her indoors about my once a month flypast collection building up !:D:D:D:D:D
Yes..am sure this is the cockpit shot of the Mk 19 in the swedish museum, as the mkXI was merlin powered based on the type 351 spitfire.
I am sure I saw some pilots notes for sale for this PRU spitfire in the museum shop at Cosford recently which would show the instrument panles in good detail.

Did you manage to take the photos of the canopy?

Despite what they say about online magazines and the way forward, you cannot read it when theres a power cut nor can you beat looking at all the mags in WH Smiths when “she who must be obeyed” is in her favourite shoe shop next door or trying on that new dress which is still 2 sizes too small.
If they all go online..what hope is there for us poor hubbies ???:D:D:D:D:D
The way its going with all the goverment savings in defence we will only have the BBMF to defend this country :D:D:D:D:D:D:D
What about the gentleman who organised the aerojumble at Whitwick, I went to 4 of thses and well organised and well situated just 10 minutes off the M42as well.
From what I understand that it was the sports centre managers/owners which put paid to this venue by increasing charges 5 fold in one year!
Sorry but cannot recall his name.
Any chance Andy you and him getting together along with the Jet museum at Staverton and organising a late Autumn aerojumble there for 2013.

Let you decide Tony 😉
May the force be with you.
I have a lovely Merlin crankshaft, It was taken out of Douglas Bader’s Spitfire before his last combat mission, I know its genuine as I bought it from an Englishman at Duxford.
Now hmmm ,,, what happened on that last flight? :diablo:
Dont you also have in your collection a genuine spitfire spent .303 shell bullet out of Baders spitfire?:diablo:
Thank you both, had hoped he was on this forum…
Pm sent David,

Hi Ross,
Think you will find that there was a industry standard on both layout and how the information was laid out on drawings within the aeronautical engineering industry.
This meant any engineer could read any drawing from different companies without having to have a symbol index at the side to say what a particular symbol etc meant.
