Found this which is said to be a BAE 100m opv with the fat funnel removed and to skinnier ones fitted with a hangar in the middle with the space saved they fitted a open stern with spots for containers looks like a good layout but is it a BAE design? of course the pic shows more armament than needed but this layout with sensors and weapons talked about would be useful

Portsmouth is not going to be building warships anymore, it will only be a maintenance and repair facility, they will all be built on the Clyde, announced as of yesterday. These ships are stop gaps in the order books of BAE, as such they need to be either almost complete or completed designs, so no chance for them to have anything to do with the as of yet undesigned MHCP class.

we know Portsmouth will not build anymore ships (which is a 100% political move and a retarded one at that) . we also know that the River Class are only 10 years old and one of the most cost affective ships the navy have so to replace them after just 17 year ?

as for MHCP a lot of work looking into what this ship should be has been done this is not a new idea the MHCP program has been around for many years and in stead of building ships for the sake of it we should build what we need

These ships should be built with the mind set that they will be the first of the MHCP class of ships with six ships ordered with 3 being built in Portsmouth as well as the 3 in the Clyde

Why not include India too? 😮

I don’t think Sweden would be interested in an aircraft configured as above — it wouldn’t seem to offer any advantage over Gripen E/F besides size, which is likely a disadvantage from the Swedish perspective, i.e. more expensive to acquire/operate.

and that is why I put Sweden as an out side 4th

If they could sort out the workshare issues a joint Korean-Turkish program with SAAB assistance still makes excellent sense. With both nations being confronted recently with cost issues, perhaps a compromise is still possible…

The best work share would be Korea – Turkey – Brazil this would allow good order numbers from the 3 main players 4 if you included Sweden of up 350 -400 air-frames before exports

You cannot exceed expenditure what is in budget. so if some thing is not spend it is returned.
This was cut during the year. so there is no gurantee what is announced in begining will be spent in the end.

Thats i am pointing out that is not just greater salaries in Brazil but greater infrastructure by Brazil that reduce money available for military procurement. India government infrastructure spending is no where near to Brazil.

You dont have slightest idea about Gripen NG operating costs. It may end up as 8 ton empty weight fighter with underpowered engine and only 3.3ton internal fuel. it will be exceedingly short range for Brazil requirments. forget about any power supply for heavy EW pods. This thing is only sutiable for GCI control interception.

What a silly thing to say Gripen NG has been around for some time now and has well know operating cost plus Gripen is a very useful bit of kit in C/D form

So for 20 million US each Kfir Block 60 would cost Argentina 320 million US for 16 jets the F-1M deal has set them back 220 million US lets not for get that both options are stop gaps with 10 to 15 years of life for 369 million US they could of pick up the 18 F-1’s from Jordan and upgraded them to MF-2000 spec which would have opened the Rafale toy box

the F-1m is a good deal and the F-1m will be a very good type in region

In the main the F-1 is a very capable peace of kit it has suffered from ill inform press and lack of real upgrades until MF-2000 came along it has proven its self to be a true multi-role platform with success in A2A – A2G and anti-shipping roles with little or no support against both US and Russian types that include F-5/ F-4/F-14/ F-16/ Mig-21/ Mig-23/ and in MF-2000 fit it would be a handful for Mig-29 / Mirage 2000/ F-18C & E and Gripen

You load fuel and add ordnance above deck.

I have no proof but I have heard that in 1982 the RN bombed up Harrier’s on the hangar deck some days due to weather but as I say this just here say
