So when we swap one for one with the platforms you have given us we have a highly capable force

    96 Jaguars lets say 86 GR1 and 10 T1
    236 F-5 184 E and 52 F
    127 F-4 70 D and 57E
    94 Mirage F1 84 EQ and 10 BQ
    41 F-16 36C and 5D
    35 F-15 30A and 5B

Add to this British doctrine and it is a game changer first thing the British would do is a T-R-E each day leading up to and after the shooting war starts knowing the region you know most if not all Saudi air fields the TRE and recon would show the point in time the shooting would start British doctrine would see a first strike if I was planning this I would send 40 Jaguars 50 F-5E 30 F-4D as a strike package and 30 F1 20 F-4E and 40 F-5E as Fighter cover I would also look to intercept as many time as aircraft as poss with defence of the airfields as the top effort to start with

A little off topic but would a RDY-3 radar fit in a Mig-21- J-7 if it did that could be a game changer for the type

I feel at this time armed recon flights by Jaguars and an equal number of Indian troops camped 10 k away would be away of saying keep of the grass then talk it out no need to go mad and at the end of the day this sort of thing gives the Indian armed forces a reason to keep up numbers

Firstly the Romanian F-16 deal is upward of $570 million yes they are getting 12 jet for $120million but it is going to cost 450 million to over haul them this will give them 12 jets with 7500 hours per jet here is also some pilot training in the deal

We all know that they is a deal on the table for 18 low hour Jordanian F-1’s for $100 million and as said we also know the Cost of the upgrade of F-1 is 15.5 million and what you get for the money

As for Morocco I feel they have played an outstanding hand they spent £450million to upgrade 27 F-1’s to MF2000 speck plus they have bought 24 new F-16 which will give them 50+ highly capable multi-role jets for the next 20 years with the F-16’s going on to see 40 years serves if managed right

firstly I think that countries are waiting to see how JF-17 works out for the PAF secondly I feel a Mig or Sukhoi built cheap single engine multi-role jet would be better look on.

I say single engine because this in its self keeps cost down when it come to long term running costs also as said at the start this jet is not really for Russia but more for Middle East countries and the likes of Bangladesh – Argentina and Eastern Europe

some of these counties like Croatia and Bulgaria who are looking at Western second hand type should look at Mirage F-1 if they pick up 15 airframes at $100 million put them through the MF2000 program which we know to be $15.5 million each which works out at $232.5 million add to this $400 million for support and weapons and for $733 million you have a highly capable BVR multi role fighter that is cheaper and easer to operate than F-16

I feel Serbia should look at 1 for 1 replacement of Mig 21 with JF-17 cheap and easy to operate with a second phase of 15 Yak-130’s

If you are not going to maintain a QRA on Bank Holidays why bother the rest of time things have to be pretty bad I could almost understand a mix up in orders which stood down a unit that was earmarked for the duty but a blanket stand down every one crack a beer open wow

We have all been caught with our pants down at some time. but this dose bring home the need for a Nordic battle group with member counties coming together to build and implement a better AEW – QRA system

Lets remove the Atomic lets all lob one thinking as this would be when all else has failed as who ever wins has to live with the fall out and no wants or needs this

back on topic I also feel the Mirage F-1 MF2000 has high 4th gen capability as a multi -role platform

India’s Darin 111 Jaguars are a very capable 3rd gen jet and I am sure that China and Pakistan will not be poo poo its capability to hit them hard in numbers

India’s Darin 111 upgrade of Jaguar is very good not as the Mirage F-1 MF2000 but still very good I would like to see both types fitted for Storm Shadow and Brimstone
