    My wishlist for Legends 2010?
All I ask for is an accident free show, where none of the participants gets injured.

We have been fortunate for some years now, LONG MAY IT CONTINUE.

I do not give a damn about what is being flown at the show, as long as it is accident free. I just enjoy the show. Wether a certain Spit or ´Stang is there is irrelevant.

I´ve gone through all the pictures for TF-CUP, and I can not find any that are incorrect. Can you please point me in the right direction

Regarding the NAS Keflavik, it has been pretty much run down. The living quarters have been converted into housing for university students, and the big hangars have been converted into commercial hangars. The hardened shelters that used to house the F-15´s are still there and are used occasionally by Nato detatchments of fighters that come here for training.

    Pretty crappy at the moment.

Some 74-400 coming on line, but a lot of lost contracts with the A-300 and the 74 classic.

Quess that means you didn´t have a call from that kind man at the Chief Pilots office after I forwarded your CV.

At the moment, we are just happy to have our jobs. If you have a 74 classic rating, you could try talking to them as they are currently (about a month ago) short of two crews. That´s all I´m afraid!

    Regards,
    Sigurjon

I bought myself some aircraft quality spruce.

The Christmas reading this year will be drawings for an antique looking biplane 😮

    WD,
From memory, and it is not all that good at this time of night:eek: The critical angle of bank on the A-310/300-600 is 11° of bank. With landing flaps, (40) the outboard flap will take a serious bashing before the engine.

I think you must have your C-54/DC-4 confused with a DC-6. Here is the reason.

There were two airlines operating C-54´s/DC-4 in Iceland. They were Air Iceland (Flugfelag Islands) and Loftleidir Icelandic. Loftleidir Icelandic got rid of their last DC-4 in 1961 when it was sold to the UK as G-ARLF. Air Iceland got rid of their last DC-4 in 1967 when it was sold to South Africa.
The last operator of the C-54/DC-4 in Iceland was the Icelandic Coast Guard, which operated their aircraft (TF-SIF) until 1971, when it was sold to Singapore. I doubt very much this aircraft would have been wearing Icelandic registration marks “in the mid 70´s” on a cargo flight in the UK, but you never know!

Of DC-6 operators, there were two outfits operating cargo flights on Icelandic registrations. From 1971 to 1974 an outfit called Flugfrakt operated TF-OAD (registered in early 1971 and returned to lessor later in the year) and TF-OAE (registered on the 6th of June 1972 and crashed in Germany on the 6th of May 1974).
The other operator was Iscargo. It started operating TF-ABK in June 1973 but it was deregistered as returned to lessor on March 1974, but was later leased back to Iscargo and flew as N-17289 in Iscargo colours. It was burned at Reykjavik airport in 1982. The next aircraft was TF-ABJ, registered in 1973 deregistered in 1974 and burned in Reykjavik in 1978.
Then it is your best bet, TF-IUB. Operated by Iscargo from 1974 until it folded in 1981, dismantled in Reykjavik in 1983. The nose section still survives at the Icelandic Aviation Museum, Akureyri.

    WD,
The maximum demonstrated crosswind for the A-310 is 28 kts. for both wet and dry runways.
Maximum CALCULATED crosswind for the A-310 is 37 kts for both wet and dry runways.

So if it is true that the wind was gusting to 44 kts, it is outside even the calculated max value for the aircraft.

Well, WD, I do not know how brave you are, but this would have to be a CM1 (in Airbus paralance) landing in my book!

If true, the 44 knots crosswind gusts are WAY outside the limit for the A310.

Someone has had to change his/her underwear after that!

I have seen the disclaimer form that a Doctor has to sign BEFORE recieving the Doctor’s medical kit carried onboard one of our tour operators aircraft. I wouldn’t blaim them for not having anuthing to do with it!
    Rgds Cking

Actually that disclaimer form has nothing to do with accepting responsibility for the patient.
In the doctor´s kit carried aboard passengers aircraft is a lot of stuff, that only medically trained persons are allowed to mess with. What the doctor is doing when he signs the form is accepting responsibility for the medical kit and it´s contents. Not, in anyway, is he/she accepting responsibility for the wellfare of the patient. That is simply impossible with the limited facilities onboard an aircraft.

The doctors medical kit is a sealed metal box kept at a discreat location on board the aircraft. Do not confuse with what are effectively simply first aid kits dotted around the cabin for use by flight attendants to address minor things (like headace, diahrea etc etc.).

The Oly was also produced in Sweden as a kit plane. That is where the one we are restoring in Iceland came from as a kit in 1946. Sadly I do not have at hand the name of the manufacturer, but it was registered as DFS Olympia TF-SAI

And they were going to burn that !:eek:

I can only second that:eek: Were they really going to burn this aircraft?? It is a complete aircraft for crying out loud!! From the picture it looks like it is more or less ready for a CofA with minimal works. Please keep us up to date FB on the restoration process.

I´ve got a soft spot in my heart for the old Oly. I´ve been helping to rebuild one in Iceland. When it got to our workshop it arrived in many pieces, with the fuselage so badly broken it had to be loaded in a fishing net to get it to the workshop:eek: It is now completely rebuilt, and work on the wings and tail is progressing.

    best regards,
    Sigurjon

Reported as having 1000 kg of fuel remaining,

Hummm that is not a lot, if true 😮 Still within “legal” limits for the 737 when arriving at an alternate airport 😉

    SeaDog,
I do not think you´ll ever hear from Mr. Hellman (an obvious alias) again. He cr@pped in the cream and is not coming back for more.

It is sad to see trolls like that, with his (her?) first post on the forum add another weight on the scale to discourage operators to post on here. I totally understand your concerns.

    All the best,
