Now I just need to convince SWMBO to let me syphon off some of the wedding fund to get myself an aerobatics course…
Steve, aren’t we being a little optimistic here? Do you REALLY think that’s going to happen? 😮
and why moan? Indeed why, I generally don’t and carry on hopping
So nothing has changed for you then! 😉 😀 And are you still hopping about with one foot up your backside, like you told me last winter, or have you found a new way of hopping along? :dev2: :diablo: 😀 😀
There was a C-47 staging through Reykjavik on the 31st of may on it’s way to a new owner in the UK. Aircraft in all metal finish, didn’t catch the reg though, as that is not my thing. The owner was on board, and talked to some of the airports rats, and said it would be based in Northern UK
Happy birthday, mate
I bet there was some organic fertilizer coming from the cockpit when there was an engine failure on take off with 3.5 tons on board! 😮 😀
Well, judging by the way they sounded on the radio while it was going on, there was no organic fertilizer coming form the cockpit 😀 😀
Funny thing is, they just recently REDUCED the load to 3.5 tons. They used to operate this aircraft at full military overload with 4.something tons 😮 It is not as critical as it sounds, as they have a dump function on the hopper, so they can dump the entire load in a few seconds (10 sec. IIRC) if the situation is critical. And that is what they did the other day. They went over the sea, dumped the load, and came back for a very uneventful landing.
Four flying IIRC, all of which were scrapped after filming. The fifth was a static, I think, and that is now with the BBMF
If you are talking about the scene over the lakes, you are probably mistaking the nav lights for guns. What they did, was to use the aircraft that had already released their weapons, to draw Flak away from the attacking aircraft by flying in the general direction of the dams, flashing their nav lights to draw the fire onto them.
Galdri,
My Icelandic workmate wants to know what on earth you dust from the air round Reykjavik in May!
Adrian
The C47 has been dropping fertilizer on the lower areas of the Reykjanesskagi (Reykjanes peninsula) for about a week now, before it had it’s incident last Thursday.
I think I had to do with food rationing. There simply was not enough food to go around. Things like meat, eggs etc. were in seriously short supply, and to normal people it was unobtainable. Flight crew that were ‘on’ got their treat in a the form of an egg and bacon, those not flying did not.
why dont we make a car sticker with the motto “will it be at Legends?” 😀
Alex
Now that would be an idea 😀 It will be an instant best-seller 😉 😀 😀
The contra-prop would cancel the torque. However would there still be P-factor?
Why? One prop turning right, the other one left. They cancel each other out. Right?
Hope you don’t mind my piggy-backing on your thread
Not at all! The more, the merrier 😉 😀
And a fantastic picture by the way 😉
It was VERY cold. But well worth it 😀
Why? You can’t change nature!
True, so true. But you shouldn’t give it away like that. You should try to be a little more discreet about it 😉 😀 😀
Congratulations Melv! I think you can stop grinning like an idiot now 😉 😀
