If last year is anything to go by, I wouldn’t expect an official list until nearer the time. If I remember correctly, participants were revealed on the AJBS website over several months in 2010. I *think* 2011 was different in that rather than drip feeding information, a full list was published a month or so before the event.
I’ll be heading out there for the first time this year, staying in a nearby holiday apartment for six days. Looking forward to it.:D
You mean like these? π
Expect a full report (with images – lots of images!) on Global Aviation Resource later this week. GAR staffer and Key poster Huw Hopkins had about 16 cameras and triple the number of lenses. He doesn’t do things in half measures!
Cracking event, many thanks to all at TFC who made it happen. More of the same next time and I’ll be a happy man!

…and one of TFC Boss on Saturday.

That was the Vampire Preservation Group’s T.11 from North Weald flying a sortie to Old Warden. Peter Teichman was also up in his P-40M today – caught him returning mid-afternoon.
That was a good day!:D

Looking forward to this – a few of us should be ploughing up from ‘down south’. It should be a nice precursor to the airshow season.
Superb stuff as ever! I’m surprised more airshows don’t do this sort of thing, to be honest – you’d think it would be a pretty good online marketing tool for events large and small.
TouchΓ©! π
I agree it would be useful for museums to put a little note on their websites confirming their stance with regards to tripod photography. I’ve been quite lucky in that I’ve never had any hassle when I’ve pitched up with a tripod – indeed, I’ve been around Newark, Coventry, Manston, Duxford and Old Warden. I suppose if in doubt, give the museum reception a call in advance to confirm their position.
I’m sure it’s been mentioned before, but Hendon (notoriously tricky, if not impossible in places, for photography!) welcome tripods provided you obtain a tripod pass (which is worn around the neck) from the main entrance in the Milestones of Flight hall.
A tripod is essential in the Battle of Britain hall at Hendon and comes in handy elsewhere, although you can get away with hand-held photography in Milestones and in parts of the main hall.

A few of my own photos from VPG’s Vampire taking off at North Weald last October. The quality isn’t brilliant, but you get the idea…

I’d love to attend this but I’m not sure whether I’ll be able to make it on time – will it be possible to purchase tickets on the door (unless it’s a sell out)?
I believe it was sold to another German owner – I’m sure his name was given on the Hahnweide website some time ago (maybe July/August time) and they explained that he was currently converting to it, but I can’t find the update now… However it certainly sounds like it’s staying in Germany for the time being.
Sorry to not be of more help!
Pleased to see the date’s been finalised. Have always enjoyed Waddington on the couple of occasions I’ve been, but there’s only one place I’ll be over that weekend.:D:cool:
Why do more people not go to this event? Since its inception a couple of years ago, it seems to draw a smaller crowd than other evening shows despite a) being a unique concept, b) having tremendous weather for the most part and c) being held on a ‘free’ Saturday, with no competition. It’s been pretty well advertised this year from what I’ve seen, but the crowds were down. Those who didn’t go missed out, it was quite brilliant.
Bizarre.
Anyway, here are a few shots from the day and a link to Huw Hopkins’ GAR report with a lot more detail regarding the show, for those interested.
