Tremendous thread, this. Really looking forward to future updates.
Mr Dorst – you have a private message, sir.
Tremendous photographs, they really give a feel for the atmosphere of the event.
I’d agree with Chox on this. Also, won’t it all be CGI? Only Michael Bay has enough clout with the military to secure extensive USAF involvement, as shown by his Transformers movies…
I can’t see this ending well!
Birdsong (Sebastian Foulkes) is a brilliant book and would have got my nomination but for Kev’s intervention.
Wholeheartedly agree – one of my top nominations. There are some very powerful moments throughout, but Stephen’s visit to the prostitutes (and his encounter with the young French woman there) is absolutely heartbreaking.
There’s a film in development (well…there was; not sure what the craic is with it at the moment) but personally, and perhaps selfishly, I hope they don’t follow through with it. My own visions of the book are so fully formed and perfect that I can’t see how any film would do them justice. I also don’t trust any actor to pull off the complexity of the Wraysford character. They’d probably cast Orlando Bloom in the main role.
As an aside, I actually studied the book for my A-level coursework, alongside ‘Under An English Heaven’ by Robert Radcliffe. Haven’t read the latter since, may have to revisit it over the winter.

Interesting thread. Wasn’t the ‘crowd-side’ bit removed after someone tripped and broke a leg in June 2004, or am I confusing that with another incident? I was there and remember the ambulance and rumblings of “Oh, they’re bound to remove the track now” at the time…
I remember taking a ride on the LWH railway at Classic Flight ’92 (I think) and being buzzed by ‘Happy Jack’s Go Buggy’ and the Buchon. I was only 4, but by God, I remember the train shaking as they went overhead like it happened yesterday!
Blue2 – no don’t grow a beard or wear flip flops!
Why on Earth not?! ;):D

Nice monopod action, there was some lovely light to be had very early on. It was quite a view across that flightline.
Good thing you got in there early, you wouldn’t have to whistle at the press to get out of the way like some other self-important IWM (I think) twit was on Sunday morning so he could get his photos (God forbid someone is made to wait 30 seconds). Surely a simple ‘excuse me’ would suffice; it is, after all, how normal people communicate!
Duxford~
And not a single hi-viz jacket in sight! 🙂
Or in my case, two stitched together. They don’t make ’em for hefty fellas like me. 😀
Lovely show with a great atmosphere (particularly Saturday, with the massive crowds creating a real buzz about the place), some superb flying and a finale that I’d consider to be the best multi-warbird set piece I’ve seen (and I’ve seen a lot of them). Must admit to having the man-tears when the Spitfires departed. You felt that deep in your soul.
Kennet Aviations Skyraider over Farnborough 14:30 heading south west.
Probably going to Jersey, where it’s replacing Chris Vogelgesang’s Yak 3, which is stuck in France due to poor weather.
Sweet Jesus, I have arrived! :D:eek:
The thought of three or even four Furies at ‘Legends next year is ridiculous. I’ll pay for one of ’em myself if it makes it happen!
