A dilemma and, indeed, nightmare we’ve all faced at some point, Mike. :(
Mike – No.24 is a Polikarpov Po-2, currently under restoration to flight. I’m sure I’m not alone when I say I’m looking forward to seeing her going round the bend at Old Warden!
Bit late now, but edited for accuracy. GA isn’t really my fortรฉ. ๐ฎ
Thanks for the comments, one and all.
At the end of the film when everybody was cheering the hero (who incidently was a part of the group that broke the damn door in the first place) I found myself cheering because it was the end of the film.
Not a fan of the soppy end credits song then? ๐
According to Google, it was by Adam Lambert, American Idol 2009 winner. At least they got a respected, accomplished artist to sing it.
“Every kiss I can’t forget
This aching heart ain’t broken yet
Oh God I wish I could make you see
Cause I know this flame isn’t dying
So nothing can stop me from trying”
Beautiful… *cries*

2012
Way too long, unconvincing flying scenes, unconvincing story line, unconvincing science to story line, under acted, over acted. Not bothered if they lived or died. Building the equivalent of 8 QEIIs (twice the size) 20,000′ up a mountain in the middle of nowhere?…….logistics……..with no one knowing? …….sky not blotted out for 500 years?……no 10,000 year ice age?……atmosphere not burnt off? Transporting wildlife underslung from choppers with a wind chill of minus 60 degrees, Giraffes….from Africa? If you microwave lava, would it react? Is it organic? Would continents move 1,500 miles in an hour?
more plot holes than Braveheart!
*here be spoilers*
๐
I loved ‘2012’, simply because of the reasons you stated. The “right in the face” camera as the Russian guy (who had all the best bad lines) falls to his death, “Howieeeeeee!” as the tidal wave hits, Danny Glover recovering in time to see the JFK aircraft carrier hit the White House (what a coincidence on both counts, especially when you consider a) how much sea there is and b) that everyone else around him had died), the complete lack of any reason to care about anyone, the step-father getting the James Bond villain death treatment in the ship’s cogs, the blonde Russian with the dog drowning but nobody caring, the family getting over the step-father’s death in about 20 seconds…I could go on, but I’d be here all day.
In short, there are so many reasons why this film is terrible that it may actually be quite good. ๐ฎ
Oh, and on the DVD release, the ‘making of’ documentary is brilliant. I laughed out loud at some of the cast’s comments about how deep the script and characters, with Roland Emmerich saying that the film is really a character study, or something ridiculous like that.

She will indeed – maybe even come over to the UK too ๐
Oh you tease.
Looks brilliant! ๐
20. …or Provost, for that matter!

21. Hair cutting landing from the Pup.

22. Same with the Elf – look at the reflection in the spinner!

23. “Dagling” departure.

24. PT’s mount at rest.

25. PT-22 break.

26. Excuse the dust spot, uploaded this one without editing… One of my most viewing images on Flickr, interestingly – and it’s only been up for 48 hours!

27.

28. Travor Roche and Dave McKay preparing for their displays in the Sopwith duo.

29. Willy Hackett relaxes before taking the “Dagling” aloft.

Damn, one short of a clean 30. Nevermind!
Oh, and I popped into Duxford on my way home this afternoon…

Thanks for looking – C&C’s always appreciated. ๐
Probably PT taking ‘Jumpin’ Jacques’ to or from Southend airport for the press launch. Hurricane yesterday, Mustang today. What a life that must be… ๐

A bloke on a parachute with the motor off his lawnmower strapped to his @rse is just drifting past my window…
Sorry make that two of them. Silly people.
Two of them departed Old Warden yesterday. Can’t be the same ones, surely?!
Pass the tissues, dear boy… ๐ ๐
Any chance of a return appearance? ๐
Indeed, I was there! Albeit without a camera. What a day that was – warbird movements sporadically all day long. Just brilliant! Maurice Hammond’s Harvard dropped in too, if I remember correctly.
Here’s hoping for some meaty warbird visitors this weekend. ๐
