To me these look more like something from the BAe146/ Avro RJ family, perhaps relics from the cancelled RJX project a few years back? Just my best guess.
Definatly BAe146/ Avro RJ family, almost certainly an uncompleted airframe from the RJX project.
What were the main differences between the RJX and the older Bae 146 series ? Souped up engines/avionics ???
Pretty much just that. Nothing to radical.
As David said if they carried on with the original planned RJX with 2 engines it would probably have sold alot better than the 4 engine version, as most airlines were put off by the fact the RJX had 4 engines.
I am doing a personal study on the abandonment of the Avro RJX project.
I once read or heard that the bankruptcy of Sabena was instrumental in the Avro RJX being cancelled.
Does anyone have any views or has anyone else read this? I cannot remember where I read it:(
I was working on the RJX programme when they cancelled it. I dont remember any mention of Sabena having anything to do with the cancellation.
In my opinion BAE cancelled it due to the company focusing on military projects and wanting to get out of the loss making (for BAE) regional aircraft market. And they just used 9/11 as an excuse to do this.
Both Druk Air and British European (now FlyBE) both initially wanted to have there aircraft delivered, but eventually there orders were cancelled.
If you want any more info on the RJX just let me know and I will see what I can do.

Thanks for the Heads up 😀
Please let us know when it lands
1st flight is due to last 1 hour, however I wont be able to keep up the updates, as I have to go out on the works doo in about 15 mins 😎

You’re part of the industry team, right? Or are you watching a feed everyone else can see too?
I work on JSF, so not a public feed im afraid.
Latest info is the fog has lifted and estimated time for 1st flight is now between 12:30 and 12:45 CST (18:30 – 18:45 UK Time)
have been a bit busy over the last few days but will surely post the first flight video once i receive a copy , meanwhile if there is any media or a JSF program participant (or knows someone 😉 ) it can viewed at the team website after a subscription , Here is a pic and a high speed taxi video , will post more once I get back home –

Currently watching the livestream and the 1st flight is delayed an hour or so due to fog at FW.
Why is the refuelling probe still extended???
Hydraulics, maybe thats why then the nose gear was also up?!
I have heard that the refueling probe was out to inhibit an auto-go round, which the autopilot would of initiated due to the nose gear not being down.
Interesting…did you goto Bhutan? 🙂
No, i went on it when it came back to Woodford for some heavy maintenance. Would love fly into to Paro though!
I have been on a few interesting aircraft at work.

Druk Air 146-100

All 3 (at the moment) Nimrod MRA4’s

All the RJX’s that flew (3off) plus a few that didn’t 🙁

Bahrain Defence Force RJ85
Also been on the Queens flight 146’s
But the rarest aircraft I have actual flew on is probably when I flew LHR – MAN on Concorde (G-BOAB)

Sadly now longer flying 🙁
1. I currently work for BAE Systems at Samlesbury working on the JSF program. Before that i was at Woodford on the shopfloor (Im now in planning) working on the Nimrods and previously the ARA and RJ/RJX aircraft.
2. I went into an apprenticeship straight from school, so it was pretty decent GCSE results that i needed, plus also several tests at BAe.
According to W&R16 Jetstream 41 G-PJRT was scrapped 3/11/97, with the nose going to the BAe Flying College to be turned into a simulator and the rest to Shewalton Car Breakers in Irvine (which handled much of the Jetstream cull, apparently). The nose disappeared almost immediately, though.
Jetstream 31 N414MX was cut up and 28/6/97 and removed to Irvine.
Jetstream 32 G-31-984 (c/n 984) and the fuselages of c/ns 986 and 987 (see a pattern?) were scrapped 8/97 and removed 2/9/97 – destination unknown.
Jetstream 41 fuselages c/ns 41105 and 41106 were scrapped 1/9/97, no destination given.
Jetstream 41 G-OXLI was dismantled 26/6/97 and removed to Bournemouth for trial installtion use before being scrapped in 1999.
The various static rigs also disappeared, the last being seen in 1998.Info extracted from Wrecks and Relics #16 and 17.

The two J41 fuselages you mentioned both went to Woodford, cn41106 (in two halves) went in to the Training School and cn41105 (complete fuse) was stored in the MU Stores at the Poynton end of the airfield. Both were removed in 2002/3 to destination unknown.
