I recieved a notification from Key of 5 unsuccessful attempts to log in on ny account this morning. The IP address was 117.169.1.117 which is in China.
Hoping they beef up the show this time as the flying display was distinctly thin last year. Very aware the organisers would be using the first one to test out demand and hopefully will build on it..
This was a pic used on one of those wall posters from Plaistow Pictorial in the 70’s. My cousin had it on his wall and from memory I think this Spit was lost over Ostend.
I hope your colleaugue is recieving some support to help her dealing with this. For the boy’s family and the other kids in the bus I just cannot begin to imagine how it must be.
Signed.
Thanks for the reminder Anna. Can’t quite believe it has been 15 years.
Der, Thanks for posting the photos, she certainly gets around a bit, from the I of W to the Clyde. On the day I went aboard her, I had left my camera at home, but, yes, thats the ole girl I had the pleasure of seeing.
Long may she live and float.

. She is gorgeous Jim. Loved this old girl ever since my first trip as a teenager. I could watch that big old engine going all day .
Paddle Steamer Waverley is the last sea going paddle steamer in the world and is still going strong.

:applause: And someones got some brains, well done whoever the graduate is. 🙂
My daughter Trumper!
Course you are right Jim. How do you make something like that interesting for today’s generation of kids? Not easy to do it whilst preserving the remains. Victory is easy to relate to because you are walking through it and you can begin to imagine what it was like but it has very much been mucked about with.
Think you’d be hard pushed to find a more historically significant ship to preserve though Jim-even if it doesn’t look that exciting.
There is a campaign going at the moment to try and save HMS Edinburgh for the city she is named after, to be berthed alongside Brittannia. Not a Falklands veteran of course but it would be nice to see one type 42 preserved and accessible to the public.
Plenty of RNAS activity up in that area in years past from Lossie so wouldnt be surprised if it was Naval.
What really frustrates me Jim is that she could end up in a place where the person in the next room has blown the lot on wine, women and song and now gets their care paid for by the state. What is the point of working hard and investing when this is the end game?
IIRC Warren, Care homes for those that are in need of same in Scotland, are paid for. I think it’s morally wrong, that anyone should have to sell their homes to pay for the right to live to a peaceful end. I would like to think that all of my hard earned, paying off the house would benefit my kids, not the State, who have robbed me, you and many others in Taxes etc, and then deprive you of leaving your family a legacy.

In Scotland it’s only paid for if you have assets worth less than £25,000. Anything above that disappears down a big plughole very rapidly.Local authority care homes round here are about 500 quid a week. Private sector can go up to about double that. I am about to go through this with my mother.
