As far as i know the lust has 2 Aew sea kings on board 2 merlins *belived grounded* and some harriers.

phew thats a force to be reckoned with… bring back the Buccaneers and Phantoms, before Iceland gets a better navy then us…

LORD I wish the RN would have leased some AV-8B plus’s from the USMC!

or just kept the Sea Harrier going, have they given the RAF Harriers BVR capability yet… :dev2:

pity F-14 has gone, i suppose the Sea Harrier would be classed as a classic now as well, the Indian Navy will have there hands full, keeping them old airframes airworthy…. :p

i love the old jet fighters and bombers, while some looked weird and wonderful others was sheer beautiful, i have so many i like but if i had to narrow it down…. British, Hunter, Sea Vixen, Javelin.. American, Scorpian, Sabre, Stratojet.. Russian, Mig-17, Mig-19, Tu-16.. Canada, CF-100.. French, Vautaur…. to name just a few.. cant forget the Canberra and V-Bombers as well.. 🙂

Age is not important. If there was a new model Su-27 that was optimised for the recce role that could replace the Mig-25 and perform as well then it would have already happened. The reality is that no current in service aircraft in the Russian forces can perform the role of recce better than the Mig-25 and cost less than the Mig-25 costs them.

i am not complaining.. i think it is great to see the Mig-25 still in service, they are one of my favorites.. i would have thought if the Russians had more money they would have developed a reccie version of the Mig-31 to replace there Foxbats, similar performance, size . suprising really they have not even flown one yet….. 🙂

i may be wrong but was it the Bismark being sunk by the Royal Navy which made the Germans think twice about having carriers, instead they conentrated on there U-Boats…

i just loved the opening sequence with the Genaral being driven through all them heinkels… sets up the whole film for me.. the only snag is the Merlin engined 111s, they just dont look right do they.. i know the film makers had no choice. when i watch it i have my surround sound turned right up, just to admire the beautiful sounds of the Merlin…
